Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone on here has ever swapped a 5 speed mtx on a 2003 focus zts to a 6 speed mtx from a focus svt, if so what all is required for the swap? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thank you all in advance.

It's my daily driver and I'm looking to up the mpg by swapping in a 6 speed, don't really care about going fast, too many speeding tickets as it is.

Ask and you shall receive... It's very straightforward direct swap just need an ecu flash for the gearing.

Yep just did mine. Didnt spend much more than if I were to replace my 5 speed. I think i paid maybe 300 more in parts or so. I have some of the parts you will need if you want to pm me. But I just did my swap 2 weeks ago and I love it

If you're after mileage then the 5 speed is better than the 6 speed. At 75 mph on the freeway, the 6 speed buzzes around 3200 - 3300rpm. The 5 speeds and the automatics are around 2800-3000rpm at the same speed. The 6 speed SVT trans was designed more for road course racing. That's why 1 and 2 are tall, 3rd 4th 5th 6th are all really close, about a 1k rpm difference. 6th in the Getrag isnt exactly a highway cruising to get the best mileage possible kind of gear.

Doing it for the wrong purpose, The Getrag has no Overdrive gear, so doing about 70 on the expressway puts you around 3100 RPMs, which is IIRC pretty much the same as the MTX-75, if not higher. You are better off sticking with the 5 speed.

Bring it to my shop, I need a 5 spd for my svt, I'll trade my 6 spd and help you swap it.
You have to change trans, clutch, flywheel, axles and crank sensor
