: Emissions and Tune
aTm Beaner 04-28-2011, 09:10 PM so everything worked out as expected. my car passed with flying colors. i was getting a little worried, but they plugged her into the OBD scanner and she passed!
The tune I'm running is for emissions, and the only thing disabled is the Rear o2 sensor. The good part is that I received a "Ready" code for the o2 sensor even with it disabled. I'm guessing the tune masks it to make it look likes its operating the way it should be.
The only "not ready" code was for the catalyst. i'm trying to figure that one out.
[cheers]
JoshInHisFocus92 04-29-2011, 02:44 AM You have ALL that and you PASSED! are you serious! wow congrats, I would have been in hand cuffs in cali. LOL
mikebontoft 04-29-2011, 02:45 AM lol. good job.
Catalyst was not ready because it probably hadn't been driven long enough. some cars are just a pain that way.
iminhell 04-29-2011, 12:49 PM Catalyst wasn't ready because there's no way to tell if it's ready or not with the rear O2 disabled, that's kinda it's job. LOL
aTm Beaner 04-29-2011, 04:48 PM it's weird that my o2 sensor says "ready" when it's supposed to be disabled for my header. i'm not complaining!
Sean05 05-13-2011, 06:26 PM Who did your tune? u have the stock exhaust manifold?
aTm Beaner 05-13-2011, 11:07 PM Who did your tune? u have the stock exhaust manifold?
i'm running a F2 header, and FSWerks did the tune. i'm currently running an 87 octane tune with only the secondary o2 sensor being turned off.
1turbofocus 05-13-2011, 11:23 PM The rear o2 is what sets and adjust for the catalyst , this is an issue with most peoples tunes that have the rear o2 turned off
SCT cannot turn off the "ready" settings when things are turned off for some reason , you would think there would be a way to turn it off to the point that the PC doesnt even look for it to be on when the tune has it turned off , Cant have it all lol

jmiller_1974 05-13-2011, 11:46 PM I love Travis County emissions laws, lol. OBDII only, and You can get 2 NR's and still pass! I'm running with similar bolt-ons minus tune and add a mechanical downstream O2 "delete", and am fully expecting to pass in June when Mine is due.
aTm Beaner 05-14-2011, 07:41 AM For cars newer than 2003, only one NR is allowed. What type of header are you using?

aTm Beaner 05-14-2011, 07:44 AM That must be why my catalyst was NR. Either way, I'm not complaining.

jmiller_1974 05-14-2011, 12:21 PM Oh, right. I always forget about that post 2003 part. I have the F2 header, as well.
Blue5ive 05-27-2011, 08:19 PM I will eventually be getting a tune since i'll be running the SVT header, 2.5" orp, 2.5" flex and new exhaust. Just gotta get everything except the header. Have that already. Was glad to see Harris county just plugs into your OBD port when i passed mine in april.

nice! hmm thi makes me wonder i could have a header, and have the o2 cheaters if i passed visual would they still fail?
aTm Beaner 05-28-2011, 11:08 PM you're in Cali, and i hear that place sucks for emissions. you'd probably have to reinstall the stock manicat every time.
sleepyboy 05-28-2011, 11:23 PM I've been passing for years with no cat. Just recently I passed again with even more mods, complete EGR delete and such. I think that the computer saying it's ready is what passes it. If it did turn the ready off then it would fail the car. So SCT kinda did us a favor no?
aTm Beaner 05-28-2011, 11:40 PM i guess so. i think you can pass with two NR codes. on my 2005, it's only 1 NR.
sleepyboy 05-28-2011, 11:48 PM Has long as they can plug something in and my car tells them "yeah I'm emissions compliant" then I'm happy. It's when they start shoving a sniffer up the tail, then I'll get worried. Or if the inspectors ever really know what a focus is supposed to look like under the hood.
bespurcell 05-29-2011, 09:57 PM I love living in Oklahoma. We have no inspections.[headbang]
