Hey guys im new here and was wonderin if I could get some input. I'm gonna begin saving for a focus here pretty quick and i want enough room I could haul my guitars and halfstack in for practice and shows. but I also want to be super good on gas and be able to have some fun with. which led me to wanting a focus. So I was wonderin if anyone has a zx3 or zx5 that would be able to tell me how well I could fit an amp in. I figured a zx5 would work pretty good but would rather have a zx3, they just look a little funner to me. Please and Thank you.

they are mostly the same, but the zx5 will have more room. The zx3 has a little bit less room and is a bit lighter hence the fun factor. Depending on how much stuff you have, I would recommend the zx5 for more room.

Basially, though, they are very close for power/handling capabilities...most of us would recommend a manual transmission for maximum enjoyment!

Oh, I'm definately takin a 5 speed regardless. but the zx5 is about as quick as a zx3? i wasnt sure how much extra weight there was. would it pretty much be a drivers race between the two?

Posted via FF Mobile This is not entirely true. The zx3 and the zx5 have the same amount of room as far as passanger capacity and cargo room. They both the same exact car just one has two more doors. If we were talking the wagon, then that has more cargo room then the two hatches. Anyway, if you want the zx3, get the zx3. One of the reasons I got my focus was the same reason as you. When your hauling stuff your gonna most likely have the back seats folded down or have guitars on it. Regular combo amps can fit in the hatch no problem, but a half stack you'll have to fold the seats down most likely. Also guitars fit perfectly on the back seat in their cases.

And the weight differences between the two are barely noticable, so yes drivers race. If you go with a pre 05 focus look for one with the 2.3l in it (2003.5-2004 Focus)

You cuold do alright with the zx3. I have one and I too am a guitar player. I can fold up the back seats and fit my cab in the back along with my pedalboard and a bag of cables and stuff. I can fit 2 guitars in hard cases in that space behind the front seats and I keep the head up front on the passanger side. I could probably fit the head in the back but I have a full tube amp and no case and I like to keep in close to me to make sure it's not getting bounced around too much.

So, you can pull it off with a zx3 but the zx5 might make things a little easier with having the 2 additional doors to slide stuff into instead of having to fold the seats up and having to finagle things in behind the seat and the door pillar.

You wont have any trouble with the ZX3. Youll be amazed at how much stuff you can fit in these cars!

thanks for the input. I wont be havin one very soon probly june or so. I had some [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)] hit the fan and bein forced to sell my escape so when im financially recovered I'll be on the hunt. I'm thinkin im gonna go for the zx5 that way i can just slide things in instead of folding seats forward. i dont have a sweet tube head yet just a peavey transtube supreme but I still dont need to be slingin it around.
