Tonight I became a Focus owner! I picked up an 08 SE 5 speed with ~32k on the odo. The car has sync and sirius as well as the ambiant lighting stuff.
I'll take some pics in the morning, another black car.. Will my Contour wheels fit on it? I've got some E1's with blizzaks on em that would look sweet.

your wheels will fit. only issue is tire pressure sensors. they are valve stems. youll have to swap stems

Here is the new ride-
Wow this thing is cool - I got it to sync with my DroidX, figured out the ambient lightning and I think this is going to be an awesome car. I averaged 36mpg on my way to work today - mostly driving ~78mph.
It's too funny that the car will read back txt messages, no matter what the language is used :P
Anyone have a picture of a second gen with E1's on it?

I've got just over 36K on the odo now and it's very nice driving a new car around. I had the pass side motor mount replaced and the car feels a bit more solid- now I've just got to take care of the squeaky e-brake cables.
I did my first oil change last night - I think I'm going to get ramps for this job as I'm not sure what I can jack on. There is an x-member that goes across the middle, but I'm not sure if that will support the weight. I was happy to find that the oil filter is straight up and down and not a pain in the ass to get to - I filled er up with 4.5 quarts of 5W-20 Motorcraft Syn Blend and a Motorcraft Filer (it's tiny [:(] - my 3L SVT has a filter the size of a 302 filter)
After the oil change I got a fresh tank of gas and driving to work the average MPG reading was 41-42mpg. A definite increase over what it was the previous day - my air filter is somewhat dirty as well, I'm thinking a clean filter will net me a little more.
Curious to the cost vs benefit vs time for a cold air intake I calculated some data to show how long it would take to pay for a $200 mod that increases MPG by 1, 1.5 and 2 MPG. Before my oil change the at the pump MPG has always been right around 35, so I used that as my base.
Gas = 3.89
MPG = 35
11 gallons @ 35mpg = 385 miles
Cost per year = 4054.44
MPG = 36
11 gallons @ 36.5mpg = 396 miles
Cost per year = 3941.76
Savings = 112.68
MPG = 36.5
11 gallons @ 37mpg = 407 miles
Cost per year = 3835.32
Savings = 219.12
MPG = 37
11 gallons @ 37.5mpg = 412.5 miles
Cost per year = 3784.08
Savings = 270.36
If my calculations are correct, and gas prices were to stay the same (ha-ha), it would take around a year of constant 1.5mpg increase to pay for the mod. The more expensive gas gets, the faster it will pay for it's self. A year is a short period of time to keep a car - so a $200 cold air kit would be worth it. On the other hand, after I spend money I don't think of it - any MPG increase within a reasonable price would be worth it in my book. I'm thinking an air intake and some exhaust work will be well worth it.
What else would affect my MPG's? Would lowering the car increase MPG's or would exhaust be better to do first?
