: Coolant/Antifreeze - Colors Mixed!

Hi All,

My first post, so please be gentle!

Just bought a 2005 ZX4 S from a Mazda dealer, and love the car despite the lack of ABS, electric windows etc. At least it has Air Con!

Anyhow, checking the fluid levels, I noticed that the engine coolant is Dark Green - apparently this is Mazda FL22 fluid, equivalent to VC-10-A. My User Manual says I should use Yellow fluid, VC-7-A.

I want to know if this will cause major problems - I plan to flush and replace ASAP, but won't be able to do so for a few days. Just want to ensure that I can drive it around in the short term without major damage occurring.

Have read a few of the existing 'coolant/antifreeze' threads on here but can't seem to find the right answer for my own situation.

Thanks to all in advance!

The dealer or some oil change shop probably topped it off with whatever coolant was in bulk at the time. If the car starts to overheat then you know the problem but I think it will be fine. Oil change shops all over the place use generic 50/50 coolant and add it to everything that comes in.
