Looking to do the 30k inspection (outlined in the manual) for my 2007. I'd like Ford to do it. Anyone know how much they charge?

Every dealer will be different and some offer different services for a 30K mile checkup so ask for a list of what is covered for that price. Honestly I wouldn't normally go to a dealer for this since it will probably be overpriced but since you just bought the car Jan 27 it might be a good idea this time if its still under warranty.

Warranty just ran out before we bought it, actually. I'll print out the list from the manual and take it to a few places.

I checked out your guide (http://www.focusplanet.com/downloads/focusmanuals/2008/2008_scheduled_maintenance_guide.pdf) It looks pretty straightforward but I would expect to pay $150-300 depending on the shop.

Honestly you can replace oil filter, fuel filter, cabin air filter, and engine air filter with minimal tools for about $75 yourself using Motorcraft parts and how to guides here. The rest looks like inspections which might be a good chance to learn more about your car and what everything should look like while its still somewhat new. It's also a good time to clean and degrease everything. If the tires and brakes are original they might need to be replaced soon if the previous owner was a city driver or brake happy otherwise a simple rotate and balance will make a difference in handling. Can't be too safe where the rubber meets the road or stopping.

They mention something about a transmission fluid exchange but that looks like trucks. AFAIK the 08 Focus uses Mercon LV fluid with longer drain intervals now.

I don't have the knowledge to do most of those. I've done air filter, oil filter, differential fluid, etc. on my old Jeep. I'd have to be pointed in the correct physical direction to find most of the parts.

And when it comes to checking suspension and what not, I've never done that either. I've done everything with a printed out how-to or Haynes manual in my hand haha. Except intake heh.

Also, my power steering pump whines sometimes. Not all the time, but usually once or twice a day. Only does it for a few minutes, and when turning.

Those four filters equal up to be $76 and some change. I assume it's the same at a dealer. Not too horribly bad, I suppose, but I paid about the same prices for my 2003 MINI Cooper S filters.

Anyways, I might have to do that. Especially with the economy these days... "/

And we *DO* need to get tires. Almost to the wear bars all around.
