I have a 02 svt focus. I bought it in 05. I got the diablo tuner today went to install it's performance tune but it already a tune! So I can't procede because the tuner needs to back up the original tune which it can't cause it was tuned before without my knowledge when I bought it. How can I get the original tune without going to a ford dealer. Which I'm sure will cost a arm and a leg. Everything else does.
Thanks in a advance for any help in this manner

Your best bet is to repost this question in the ECU tuning section or in the Focus Power section . Probably get a quicker responce. Or the Mod will probably move it any way..

I think you can get the latest reflash from ford pretty cheap. and that will remove yiur tune and give you an original. pm who you got the tuner from. (Tom)?

You will have to go to Ford to get there latest reflash , I would call around to Diff dealers and see where you can find the best deal , It only takes about 15-20 to do and I only pay 35.00 to get this done

Can you get another ECU unit from say a salvage yard or off e-bay out of a parts car?

I dont know it might be cheaper then to get his reflashed. But he might get one that is in the same condition as his.
I thought maybe insted of taking his to a ford shop to have them roll it back to the stock tune he could pick up a used one from a salvaged car cheap he could drop in his.
Maybe it dont work that way?

it would work but would'nt be cheaper or easier I dont think because of the PATS. can you track down the original owner? that tuner is pretty much useless to him maybe he still has it?

Even if you change the ECU you have to have Ford set the PATS to get it to start with the new used ECU

oh, i didnt know they worked like that.
I remember reading on craigs list one time some one was parting out a focus. They put in the post (missing ECU because some one stole it you know who you are) and from that statement i just assumed the ECU could be pulled from similar models and switched out.

Thanks everyone for the replys. Never had any luck finding used parts for this car anyways.. Couple new questions are the ecu codes unique? Or can I download via my pc from someone who saved there's on there pc. Long shot but never know I'll spend the $100 to get it reflashed if I must. And do need to get a mil elimanater for the rear o2 sensor(o2 cheater). I've heard sometimes after a tune the computer throws a faulty code.
Little new with tuners. My last car buildup was 67 fastback so never had to worry about this kind of stuff.
Thanks

Your flash tuner will shut off the rear o2. The light will come on after you leave ford but it wont affect your car

Ok. Question I'm also getting the heat circuit on both o2 sensor faulty code from the tuner. So toms tunes turns off rear o2 so I just need to replace front o2 sensor before toms tune if I understand you right. Because the tune turns off rear o2 anyways?

That is correct , only change the front if its bad
