: 2 Dark Headlight styles for 08+ ??
CamoCustom 02-11-2011, 08:50 AM Alright, this is starting to really bother me.
Does anybody know for fact, or can shed light on this: Is there in fact 2 styles of black/black chrome headlights for the 08-11 foci?
See photo below of recently acquired "pair" of headlights:
LEFT: Ford Marked Gloss Jet black headlights. RIGHT: No Manuf. Markings, shiny chrome like blackish/gray (very similar to the dark chrome grilles) sorry, cell pic....

And no, that is not just glare on the right one, the colors are that far off. I have asked the seller twice where he got them, but no responses.
CamoCustom 02-11-2011, 10:28 AM So nobody has knowledge of this?
Are there cheap chinese knockoff oem style headlights out there?
Peregrine 02-11-2011, 10:43 AM Unfortunately, it probably is a knock-off piece. Without the factory stampings or some sort of part# on there somewhere....doesn't seem legit. I can only say that the two that are factory available are the black housings (like the one you have that's stamped) and the regular silver housings offered when this generation of Focus hit the lots.
It could be a true Ford part sold as a blemished item, but how do you confirm that?

I was afraid of this.....also, towards the bottom of the lens, It has DOT, H13 type, ETC, it has no ford emblem there either, though, the left lens does...So, it must be a replacement, NOT ford though....If I could find a match I would use it too, its still very nice..
Peregrine 02-11-2011, 11:54 AM Is there anything on the back of the dustcaps covering the bulbs? Ford even stamps those with a part number.

Only thing on the back is a quick bulb type # where each goes, IE, h13, then the 168 for side marker , then the 3157 for parking/turn signal. There is a strange possible Part #, but I cant get it right now, its at home.
Absolutely, positively not a single "Ford" mark anywhere on it.
CamoCustom 02-11-2011, 01:45 PM been tossing this around for a few hours. And I seem to be finding OE replacement parts, they are made by a company called "Replacement" well, thats what the guy from the phillipines told me: made by "replacement manufacturer company" LOL I kept asking Yea, but who makes them LOL So....I dont know what to do. Guess I can try to sell it, but wouldn't feel right selling to a FF member UNLESS they want to bake it and take it apart, otherwise, it wont match the OEM black headlights.
Peregrine 02-11-2011, 02:19 PM Maybe you can trade it to a scrap yard for a genuine one?
CamoCustom 02-11-2011, 03:40 PM Few more pics of light in question, Somebody has to know something!

Found possible part # here- reads: 20-6918 B, other then this, these are the only "part #" on them:

Good look at their "black chrome color"

Dont get me wrong, the headlight is very nice, but without a match, its pretty much scrap no?
CamoCustom 02-11-2011, 03:57 PM Ok, think I found the manufacturer.
On the front of the lens cover, very bottom, it says TYC 20-6918, TYC is a european company that makes OE style headlight fixtures......
Peregrine 02-11-2011, 09:02 PM I'd keep it now that you've confirmed a maker. TYC does go through a lot to make sure that their products are DOT approved.

Yea, but finding one might be a bit of a problem. I put an email into the company, apparently in Taiwan....
Hey thanks for at least trying to help....
Peregrine 02-12-2011, 09:12 AM Get a hold of RockAuto in the vendors section here. I'm sure that they can get their hands on a passenger side. Plus they're offering a discount at the moment....

I sent them a PM to head over to this thread
CamoCustom 02-14-2011, 12:51 PM ^^^ I called them, and just like every other idiot on the phone, nobody has a clue as to what I am talking about.
I cannot believe nobody on this forum has ever come across these for the new focus.....Nobody else can help?
I have exhausted the internet searching.....Can only find a .pdf of 6/2010"new products" by tYC, and you guessed it, that headlight is on there!
jholso 02-14-2011, 01:21 PM THESE ARE CHEAP EBAY KNOCKOFFS.
If you install with out sealing them they will probably fog up, mine did.
THere is a reason it says in the ebay add that they will not be able to be used with insurance claims.

And what ebay ad are you talking about kind sir?
All I have read, and stated above, is that these are not Cheap knockoffs, rather OE comparable replacements from body shops.
jholso 02-14-2011, 01:55 PM Ok so, I tried to look up the seller I got them from, they are no longer on eBay as that seller GO figure, lol
Basically here is the deal, I had one true ford OEM dark headlight and one "OEM replacement" purchased off ebay, same deal as in this thread where the replacement is not the right color.
But that was my own fault for ignoring the part in the ebay add that they would not meet requirements for insurance blah blah blah.
I put them in, anyways figuring Ill rip them apart and paint them the same color at some point.
Next day it rained...The OEM replacement had water in it and was all fogged up.
I took it apart (was able to see where it was sealed terribly) drained the water, resealed, and now works fine, but is still the wrong color. So I eventually ditched it.
It had all the same or should I say lack thereof marking as the one above.

Thanks for all that
I got ya.... Well, I asked the seller, which I think is fair, if he could refund 1/2 my money and I will send him this NON oem part back since they dont match and nothing was said about it.
mrd03329 06-29-2011, 10:23 PM I know your situation was different because one of your headlights were actually oem and the other was aftermarket. But there are actually 2 different oem black headlights and I was wondering if anyone does know what is different between the two?
Ford has a listing for basically 09 and then a different listing and price for the 10-11's. The dealer doesn't seem to know what the change is either. I know the ses wheels changed color in 2010, so I am wondering if the headlights did too? Does anyone have close up pictures of a 09 and 10 headlight to compare if no one knows the difference?

I think it was a fitment issue with the 08/09 models, those were different, then the 10/11s were a different light too....I did hear that from a guy at ford.
