: 08 SE headlight upgrade?

So I recently bought an 08 SE sedan and love it, except that it seems to me like the headlights are not nearly bright enough. The lenses look factory fresh and they are OE as far as I know for bulbs and everything else. Any ideas on what I can do to bump up my light output? I know Sylvania Silverstars helped in a cavalier I had. I would rather not put HID bulb kits into my stock housing if at all possible. Any other suggestions or should I be looking at new housings/HID?

I hear ya... I bought HID kit for my car and its always flickering or doesnt even turn on properly. Feels like I down grade my car.. So I replaced it with my OEM light bulb and surely it isnt bright enough. Thinking about buying nighthawk h11 bulbs but even then... might not even notice a big difference. I'm subscribing to this lol

I bought some kensun hid for my 09, bought the same for my fogs.

my dad bought the same for his 2011 f-250, both headlights and fogs

never had a problem with them.

best thing I bought for my car.

Ebay projectors and DDM tuning HIDs. Please please use the search button. I have personally responded to like 25 of these threads....

I didn't find any solid answers to what I was after in other threads as to whether or not there was a standard bulb that would do the job. Steve where did you guys buy the kensuns?

I was going to give the Sylvania silverstar Ultras a try, just cant quite afford the HID projector housings and a bulb kit yet, so until then, the next best/brightest thing! They seem to have a nice color, and sit at around 4,100k.

On the sylvania website they don't list an Ultra in the h13/9008 is there one out there and they just haven't updated the website yet?

Well, crap, that bursts my bubble.....Apparently they do not have them for the H13/9008 bulbs :(

So would Silverstars be worth it or are there any other bulbs like them that would increase light output? They do list Silverstars, just not Ultras.

I hear the silverstars are UP TO 35-50% brighter than stock, and have read that confirmed by multiple people, including a friend.

Does anybody else know of a bulb manufacturer that is decent and has good products?

Steve did you put the kits into stock housings or do you have projectors?

I could never find a significantly brighter light for my 08 so i had to upgrade to h.i.d.s and for the record never had flickering....knock on wood. I dont own them but if you wanna spend the money the projectors will help

you wont have flickering. svt_fan1129 is expiriencing the flickering because he has daytime running lamps that he needs to either disable or purchase the appropriate wiring harness for. the US cars didnt get DRL so youre good :)

The only thing I am worried about throwing a Kensun HID kit in stock housings is that I will get ticketed for it, but since I don't see a silverstar ultra I guess I am down to this...

Ok, but the problem is it really is dangerous for other drivers, it is sometimes quite blinding, you know when it happens to you? If you go with HIDs do it the right way and use projectors so you dont waste most of the light output as it goes up and out instead of on the road.

I have stuck HIDs in my bike's stock housings. The counter act it I was able to adjust them to point down as far as possible and it isn't too bad now.
I wonder if you can do that with the Focus's lights I haven't looked at being able to adjust them yet

I know I should have projectors, but I don't want to spend that kind of money. That is why I was hoping to find silverstars.

You can still get silverstars, just not the ultra ones, silverstars are still Sylvanias 2nd from the top in good, better, best bulbs:

I know the silverstars exist, but I was looking for the ultras. I have used them before but not the standard silverstars so I have no basis of better or worse lighting.
