Right now my turbo is mocked up with the oil drain on the turbo being about two inches higher than the top of the oil pan. There is about 8 to 10 inches from the turbo center section and the large part of the pan I plan to run the drain to. There would not be a lot of an angle down if I run the drain to the top of the pan. Can I test it to make sure it will drain? Any other help would be nice as well. I will try to add pictures.

If you could post a pic, it might help...

Sorry these are iphone pics
If I run the return to the bottom of the oil pan it looks like I have enough angle.

It will do no good to run it to the bottom of the pan vs the top of the pan the ,If run to the bottom the oil will be in the return line as high as the oil level is and thats about the top of the pan
Your to low and the turbo will take out the seals and will smoke like crazy when you drive it
Precision turbo was about that low maybe 1-2 inches more and had to put a pump on the return line because they had drain issues
You want about 6 inches for fair drain and 8-9 for good drain , keep in mind when you come to a stop (on brakes ) the oil goes up into the drain line 3-5 inches and you dont have the room for that

After a little work I raised it to 1.5 inches above the spot where the cat use to bolt to. (On the engine) Do you think that will cut it? Or do you think it has to go higher?
The height is very similar to the height of the xios svt kit.

My opinion is you need 6 inches from the top of the pan anything less I feel will cause you problems

I agree. I am having problems getting the turbo positioned any higher because I cannot rotate it due to the wastegate. I'm going to see if I can get it any higher. Hey thanks again Tom! And I will see if I can get some better pics.

Looks like Xios is using a ball bearing turbo. If I remember correctly they need less oil. I wonder if my turbo with back up at this height. Mine seems to be about a inch higher than theirs now.
