It is real. It was featured in one of my hot rodding magazines, maybe Popular HR, I can't remember. They did a thing where they took Pro-Street to the max. The contest was like 12 drag strips in 2 weeks or something, and you had to drive the car you raced to each one. That Mustang with the Banks turbo was one of very few diesels, but according to the owner it got something like 35 mpg. IIRC, it turned the 1/4 fairly quickly as well. The winner got consistent super silly fast times- like 8 sec with about an 800 hp ChevyII.

It's been a while since I read that article, but I definitely remember the diesel Mustang- mostly because it had a Duramax in it. Then again, the Navistar engines stink. That new PS seems extremely interesting though- hopefully it will be reliable. I like it just for the reversed head design.
