Haha sweet. I was going to use my temp gun to measure my valve cover.

That is quite a difference. I would not have thought it would work that well. Nice work. I wonder what the cold side was reading?

Santa hooked You up. man. Having seen these up close some time back(back when PTP was still Protech), I would no doubt get one of these for any FI project. Enjoy!

Nice that is such a big difference.

doesn't look like the car was started for very long. Really need to go drive the car then do that test, the point of a blanket is to keep heat in when the turbo is being used.

Can you go drive it for a bit, hit some boost and then do that test? I would like to see results from a more ideal situation.

Will do any testing you want, that I can physically do

I've seen these tested(in person) at load on heavily modified RX-8s, this thing will take whatever You can throw at 'em, promise.[thumb]

wow what a difference! Also glad to know that the wrap on the dp decreases temps significantly over the exhaust mani

I have one of those. They are well worth the money IMO. Anything to keep the underbonnet temperatures down usually is.

Just one question. Wouldn't it hold the heat in so it's harder for the turbo to cool down?

I have the coolant lines hooked up

I have heard, in some cases, of the exhaust housing getting cracked from the excessive heat trapped by the turbo blanket. Lots of people run blankets, though...and I haven't seen any actual posts about it, just a couple people have told me. Not to mention, exhaust housings are a few hundred bucks. Yeah, that's not chump change, but if you gain performance as well as longevity of heat sensitive parts from using a blanket, I think that outweighs the *chance* of damage to the housing.

You're tellin me Garrett will warranty an exhaust housing even if you use a blanket? I used/will use a blanket anyway, but that sweetens the deal.

There no proof a blanket was on the housing lol
