Thinking about selling my Focus guys.

I've owned it for like 6 months. Its not that I don't like it, I'm just simply bored of it. [screwy]

I actually kinda want a bigger car. Not a tank like a crown vic but something similar.

well, new 2012 focus sounds just something you need
1. it will be fun to drive
2. it's much bigger than MkI Focus
3. it's 4.5 m long (sedan) so it's bmw 3 series sedan size!

A nice turbo kit will wake your car and yourself up [giddy]

I would give the 2012 focus a good long look! [wave]

I'm 18. I'm working a minimum wage job. I have no credit built up yet. I have no co-signer (my parents filed bankruptcy).

My chance of getting a good autoloan is very very slim.

I don't think a 2012 focus will happen.

I am being kinda negative here, but I have to say:

If credit is an issue for you and those around you, you DO NOT want a police car. I would STRONGLY recommend hanging onto what you have and just toughing it out. Maybe if you have just had the car for 6 months you can tinker around with it and maybe put new tires or something on it...but if you have no credit you shouldn't be playing around and buying a different car after 6 months.

Sorry to be negative, but I have taken too many accounting/economics courses and seen too many of my friends make bad decisions regarding vehicles.

If your car is boring you maybe playing with it will 'wake it up' a bit...this happened with my old Neon (I was 20 at the time) and my parents had to force me out of buying a new car and I learned so much about working on it that it really helped me! I also learned that a salesman will sell you anything, and marketing companies are very good at what they do.

Cheers!

You're 18, bored with your Focus, your family is having money issues, you're working a minimum wage job, yet you're wanting to sell your Focus for a Crown Vic? Yeah, smart plan...

Trust me man, I'm 20 years old, not much older than you, but I've been through quite a bit of shit. I'm living out on my own, almost done with college, paying all my own bills (including $200/month car payment), and working my ass off at a minimum wage job to do it all. I've owned a 2004 Mustang, was paying $400 a month for it when I was living at home. I hydroplaned, wrecking it. That was a wake-up call for me. That's when it clicked and I became responsible. I got a Focus instead of another Mustang, which meant cheaper car, better gas mileage, etc... MORE RESPONSIBLE. You have the perfect car for someone in your situation. Don't throw it all away just because you're bored with it. Do some minor mods like I did- exhaust, cold air intake, etc. Little things, but it makes it less boring and makes it into something you're proud to own. I could go on and on, but I'm going to stop here. Trust me, you'll realize later on you did the right thing.

What's everyone's beef with P71 Crown Vics? Just curious..

I think that in this matter it is a question of gas mileage. If your having money issues why sell a reliable and fuel efficient car for a gas guzzling V8 leviathan.[dunno]

That's what I figured. But honestly, P71's aren't that bad. I was looking into selling my Focus for one this last Summer/Fall. You can find ones that get mid-20's Hwy..I'm not getting much more than that with the Focus. I can get about 30, on a good day, doing 65, while drafting the car in front of me, with the wind at my back. Lol.

But if money is that tight..then I do agree you need to save everywhere you can.

I'm not having money issues. I just simply said I do not have a co-signer for a loan.

C'mon people.

You've got the money? Then get a bigger car if that's what you want. Not like you need our permission. What catches your eye?

And you would be one of those people who tries avidly to convince a friend that the girl he is "in love" with is a worthless skank who's only using him as long as he's the latest greatest thing. The problem is, those friends still don't really want to be friends with someone who advises them not to make a mistake after they finally realize the mistake. Just let them be as they want to be. This kid might weigh over 300 lbs like my friend Jeff who just had to be all artsy fartsy and buy a Jetta. That poor car, it's a wonder it survived carrying around over 600 lbs between him and his woman. You'd think it was lowered until they got out. This kid might need a bigger car.

Crown Vic or Marquis- ok, but the cops beat the hell out of those cars. It's like buying a rental. It's not their car. They didn't buy it- and even more so in their case- the job requires them to beat up on the car sometimes. Lots of times you won't even get the special engine because the police engine has been blown up already and replaced with a typical Crown Vic. The bonus is the spotlight, but really, you can live without that if you don't really need it. Now if you can find a Fire Marshal car or Detective's car- those would be the best. For patrol cars, the highway patrol cars are the best, but are likely to be just as beaten. Those are just best because highway patrol and sherrif cars tend to have the really special stuff that you want in the police car besides slightly more rear seat room.

I'd love to find a detective's Crown Vic. They are generally Blue or Burgundy.

@ElectricAL - I wasn't asking for permission, just stating that I'm thinking of selling my Focus. Thats all this thread was meant to be about.

Maybe modding it would help it not be so boring, although it is a 2000 SE.

Get want you want. But you're 18 and young. Try to get a car you like and keep it. Cars are expensive and they depreciate quickly if buying new/near new.
