: Zetec JRSC BBK question

I have a JRSC with out a BBK and would like to get the BBK one day cause that's the numbers i want to run. My question about the BBK are as follows what is the odds of this kit giving me trouble is it durable and safe to use for my stock motor? I want the safety to enjoy my car and not worry about my supercharger being to much for my car. As for heat i plan on purchasing a vented carbon fiber hood to let hot air out. Once i hear everybody opinion on the BBK ill either go with or with out it.

The BBK is the only way to run that kit. I had one on my SVT and it certainly won't put any stress on the engine that it cannot handle. I installed my JRSC w/BBK when the car had just rolled 90k. When I sold the car it had 135k+ on her and still going strong.
As for heat, definitely think about wrapping your headers (get SVT ones if finances allow). Also do the thermostat, you can get it from CFM, it will open up sooner and help a bit. I was running a 35% coolant/65% water mix in the radiator with water wetter ... ran it all year in CO with no issues. Water cools better.
Again, don't sweat the engine wear - the power you will make will still be well within the engines capabilities. Just get yourself a good tune and stay up on maintenance and you'll be fine.

Personally I would NEVER run a JRSC on a Zetec....the Zetec Version is way too small and generate too much heat. The vented hood really wont help much at all... its the heat that the tiny blower puts into the engine not the heat under the hood.

well i already have it so and its the setup i want to go with. One more question would be is the BBK the blue one and the regular pulley black?

yup, bbk is blue. you wont find any more bbk's in complete form, your going to have to piece your own together and then get a custom tune!

If you're going to go this route, I would suggest tapping the rear of the manifold and installing a temp sensor there (spliced into the MAF), then tap the base of the TB and hook up a water methanol kit. Of course it's always easy to spend someone else's money, but this was the route I was about to go with the blower. If you keep your eyes open on the boards, the WMI kits come up for sale every once in a while.

WMI kits are going for good prices on ebay as well. I just picked up a boost activated tank-less WMI kit from cooling-mist for $150+shipping. I couldn't find any bad reviews about their product and it seemed like a solid kit. Their regular prices are around $200 for the tank-less kit but they have been clearing some stuff out for good prices on ebay.
WMI isn't absolutely necessary for the BBK, but when I saw intake temps around *200 I figured it would be a good add on.
Relocating the Intake Temp. Sensor is a very good idea. Here is where I put mine:
I used a Temp sensor from a pre 98 zetec contour. Got it and the harness for free and it has metal threads.
The most important aspect is going to be getting a good tune.

this is the same kit I got; I was the only one that bid on the ebay auction so they may only be listing it as a buy it now at the $180 at the moment. Either way its pretty affordable.

For me it has being 3 years since I installed it on my 2001 Zetec Sedan and I have had absolutely no problems with it and I'm quite happy, I think the JRSC BBK kit is a good one for a regular DD which is my case
Do not worry much about the much discussed topic about tremendous heat from the blower as I do not think is an issue when using the car as a DD, I think you need to worry about heat with the JRSC BBK when pushing the car to it limits constantly as it would happen on continued drag and track races and if you want to drag or track the car then a Powerworks SC or and intercooled turbo will be your best options over the BBK but for a DD street car I think it is just perfect.
My SVT headers are wrapped to reduce a little bit the heat and have plans to change the thermostat and thermostat housing with the CFM ones as the stock thermostat housing is just crap, they leak constantly and it will be my third replacement now. On top of this I installed a hood scoop to help lower temperature as well, you can see the details of that here:

the bbk is definitely not a problem as far as reliability as a daily driver as long as it is tuned well, like any other forced induction situation. What I would recommend is definitely get some kind of long tube header (they say svt is the best), water meth is good if you plan on doing any kind of racing. Venting the hood wont really help that much, keeping the air going into the supercharger cold is more important, so no short ram intakes. Another complimentary part i would recommend is a larger throttle body. If you do the bbk, header, and throttle body at the same time you will save on the tuning cost.

so since i have the brand new supercharger and big boost kit is this kit able to be tuned by a performance shop? the reason i ask this is because i will be wanting to do a cat delete and other mods that will need to be taken into affect. So i assume i can have a garage install and tune this with no problem

yes. you need a respected performance shop, someone who has tuned a focus before, you do not want to be the first one especially if this is your dd. If i were you i would do alot of searching on both FF and Fj and see the various JRSC build threads, compare other peoples mod lists to the results on the dynos/ satisfaction. Then make sure that is what you want and go for it! This may seem obvious but I wish I had gone this route, it would have saved me alot of money.
