I am planning to buy a 2010 SES loaded leather seats/moon roof 17 allow wheels etc.. from a dealer locally it has 16,000miles and offered it for $13,500 it still has manufacturer's warranty 100% coverage. If I decide to buy the extended warranty and additional extras plus tax/title it will make the value about $16000. I will be paying less than $290/month, $0 down which I can handle. What should I look into before plunging in and is this a good buy? Also, since this is a used car, I am wondering if is it possible that the dealer or the seller might have reset the odometer? I am just being paranoid I gues..

There is no way to reset the odometer and if they did somebody going to jail sounds like a good deal I wouldn't get the extend coverage because I work on all my own stuff but if your not good with a wrench then I say go for it just my 2 cents.

$13.5k is not too bad of a price, that said with all the incentive Ford is offering now and the new 2012 Model coming soon you can probably get a great deal buying new.

Invoice on a fully loaded 2011 Focus is under $19k.

Right now Ford is offering a $2k maximum cash rebate all Ford Focus.
http://www.automotive.com/2010/12/ford/focus/rebates/index.html

Technically you can get a brand new fully loaded Focus about $17k before tax. And since you're buying new you can probably get 0% financing which over the course of 5 years can make up the difference.

Price Breakdown:
2010 Used Focus
$290 x 60 Months = $17,400

2011 New Focus
$17,000 + 6% MD Tax($1020) + Title($500 Estimated) = $18,520
$18,520 / 60 Months = $308 Per Month [thumb]

Tom, I tried for the same feature SES 2011 fully loaded after discounts it will be $17900, ford dealer even made it into $17400, but with tax/tag and if I get the VIP program I would pay about $297/month that is WITH extra $2000 down. SO I am really clinging on the used one, more affordable ($277/month without down), plus I know this will not be my ultimate car, will be changing probably in 3-4 years once I finish school :)

Indy'sexclusiveZx3 thanks for the info, I guess because I saw the DIY odometer reset in this site I was kinda paranoid.. but yeah it is a good a deal.. might get it soon.

Posted via FF Mobile Interesting, seems some Ford dealers are not bugging much, even when they should be. Getting greedy I guess.

you've never sold a car for a living, have you? lol.
try it for a year like i did and then come back and say that. lol. it's a very hard world to make descent money in correctly and honestly. there isnt much mark up in cars anymore. you have to work open to close every day and sell a car to everyone you meet, otherwise you cant pay your bills. sales sucks.

im glad im back in service again

Posted via FF Mobile I said this because a few people have popped up buying 2010/2011 foci and they not getting good deals. I guess this guys wasnt that bad since an ses is technically priced at like 21k, but last week we had a guy on here trying to buy an S and the dealer wanted 18k...on an S!!! Its the end of the year and a new model is coming out. Dealers should be trying to move these on out bc if they dont they gonna get hit with fees after the years up...and then whos gonna wanna buy a 2011 focus when they see the 2012 sitting next to it.

the S at $18K seemed high. who knows what his buy rate was for the financing. perhaps his credit wasnt the best and he was adding a trade in.

I would wait for the 0% or better discounts. It is going to be a better deal to get a new one. I would talk them down a few thousands on that one if that is the one that you want

Sounds like a good deal, Anne.
They only problem I see is that you're going in with zero down. You're not going to have any equity in your car for quite some time. In fact, for a while, you're going to owe more than what your car is worth. You should at least take out gap insurance, in case something happens to your Focus and it gets totalled. If at all possible, I would try to put something down - $1,500 or so if you can.

Sounds like a good deal. I was offered $13K (first offer) for mine as a Trade In. I have 7k miles. I would not by the extended warranty, or any other bogus paint protection packages they offer. Just pay for the car (only), and drive.

I got a fully loaded 2011 SES manual with leather heated seats and moon and tune package for 16,713, so the dealer should give you a better deal on the brand new one than that. I didn't even haggle it down that is what they listed as their "best price".

I paid 16,585 for a 2011 SEL with the moon and tune package. 3000 in ford rebates plus 1200 off of MSRP.

I appreciate all replies. Is The new SES fully loaded for 16ks have the tax/tags/extended insurance? We are doing financing and given 0% for 17k or 1.9%. Anyway we searched through and through and for the same built like the 2010 SES the lowest will be 290/month with 2k down. Needless to say, my SO jumped in and bought the 2010.

I'm amazed on how good the handling of this car, I like it more than the corollas or civic, I think focus is stiffer which is an important feature for me considering I've been driving an oldschool bimmer which now i hand me down to my little brother. Looks like I'll be on this forum for a long time :) to those who bought new cars, congratulations and have fun!!
