: Ford Grand C-Max in USA is just C-Max
Z_interactive 12-20-2010, 04:56 AM According to netcarshow the ford gradn c-max in USA will be just C-Max!
What is the difference, as much as i can see from the pics:
1. front grille, the ford logo and the plate
2. central console and the handbrake, and of course the MPH dash
what else do you see?
other thing is the engines!
2.5-liter iVCT I-4 and 1.6 ecoboost both with Ford's 6F35 automatic six-speed transmission

Also look at this pics!
Engine RPM is 6k?
http://photo.netcarshow.com/Ford-C-MAX_2012_photo_13.jpg
Is 2.5 L engine revs only to 5500 rpm???
mmmoose 12-20-2010, 07:59 AM Wow, the US version looks better for a change. With exception to the lack of projector headlights. But that's nothing some aftermarket work can't change.
On a side note what does C-Max stand for? Climax? As in what happens when you lure a hot girl into the back seats? Giggity giggity giggity!!! I'm sorry... :-(
Peregrine 12-20-2010, 08:05 AM I'm stoked about this coming over. It's got it's own unique appeal that doesn't lean so much towards "minivan". The wife likes it alot as I do too. The no-hands rear lift gate is a trick little feature when you've got your hands full of baby junk or whatever... One quick swipe of the foot beneath the rear bumper and waa-lah!
BTW... I hope they offer the Xenon headlamps as an option...
whynotthinkwhynot 12-20-2010, 09:47 AM Are those sliding rear doors??????
With drink holders like that, I can see the driver and passenger fumbling for which drink they have their hand on, or taking the other person's top off when they pull theirs up.
I seriously doubt we'll see a 6 spd manual trans in the USA.
The roof rack without cross bars reminds me of what I got when my wagon was delivered- "Oh, those don't come with it, but you can order them for $150 each." [gunfire]
fhh02a 12-20-2010, 10:04 AM I am very confused as to what it really is...
a wagaon with sliding doors
~OR~
a small mini-van
Peregrine 12-20-2010, 10:31 AM Cross reference to a Mazda 5 but only better...

Posted via FF Mobile Yes sliding rear doors. The grand c max has that and a third row. Cmax has traditional doors and only two rows. But like stated here in the US its just cmax beecause we only getting one. Usually those cross bars pop out of the roof rack...sometimes lol. But yes sometimes they make u pay extra which is dumb. Im gonna guess these pop out.
sleepyboy 12-20-2010, 05:09 PM I had a mazda5 and loved it. I'm curious about this thing. I'll have to check it out at the dealer near me some time.
DrkKnight614 12-20-2010, 05:47 PM Posted via FF Mobile Forgot to mention a cool fact. The lift gate is motion sensored. All you do is walk up to the rear with your key fob and move your leg under the rear bumper, then the liftgate opens.
red2009se 12-20-2010, 06:49 PM They should just call it the Focus wagon.
DrkKnight614 12-20-2010, 10:22 PM They should just call it the Focus wagon.
But its not a focus, yes its based on the same platform but its going to be significantly bigger then the focus. Much taller and longer. Besides the fact they have a focus wagon.

mikebontoft 12-20-2010, 10:26 PM maybe I already felt this way before I logged on today, but both of these front ends are making me want to [vommit]. I am NOT a fan of them. at least not right now. I will check back in later...
seats are different too..... look better in the US version.
sleepyboy 12-21-2010, 12:52 AM Our insurance called the Mazda5 a hatchback. I'm thinking they might say the same about this one [dunno]
mikebontoft 12-21-2010, 12:57 AM ^^ mine calls my SE an SE/ZTW [dunno] lol...... I bet they call this a hatchback too though. I wonder if it's bigger than a 5 though? I remember those being actually smaller than I expected.
btw it actually looks pretty sweet now. lol.
GhiaFan 12-21-2010, 01:22 AM @ Z .......... the netcar site picture of the Euro Grand C-Max is not the production model.
This is the production model
http://www.unnen.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/2012-Ford-Grand-C-Max-Picture-500x331.jpg
and this is the Americas
http://www.canadiandriver.com/galleries/2012/images/ford/2012_ford_focus_c-max/2012-ford-focus-cmax_001-145.jpg
as you can see the top grille are the same with the chrome bar running through the middle.
For the poster who said they should call the American C-Max a wagon.
You think a vehicle with sliding rear doors represents what one would call a wagon.
Focus wagon...............................................................................C-Max

Also @Z the iamge you posted and asking about the low rpm gauge, I believe that image is a euro spec TDCi equipped with Powershift, hence the lower rpm

I wonder if the Americas C-Max will also offer the two outer second-row seats that can recline and slide independently as in the Euro Grand C-Max.
mikebontoft 12-21-2010, 01:37 AM took em long enough to include US in "global" sweet.
edit: holy crap did that center section just fold under the seat? AWESOME
GhiaFan 12-21-2010, 01:52 AM Agreed Mike, always thought it weird that Ford left the North America out of the "global" part of the world.
How is your google translator bar, very nice review from a German test drive with video showing both C-Max and Grand C-Max amongst traffic.

see this is ford official pic but on netcarshow site
DrkKnight614 12-21-2010, 08:55 AM Posted via FF Mobile Ford also said that all hatched vehicals will be getting the lift gate feature in the future. Ill probably wait for it to come to the focus before I get one. The feature us awesome enough to wait for, it is so freaking useful.
xaeniac 01-04-2011, 12:46 PM What is the price of the cmax? and what is the release date?
mjd4277 01-04-2011, 02:01 PM For the poster who said they should call the American C-Max a wagon.

Well,stranger things have happened....[;)]
Here in the U.S. the EPA designated the Chrysler PT Cruiser a TRUCK,in spite of its more car size looks.
GhiaFan 01-04-2011, 02:55 PM What is the price of the cmax? and what is the release date?
No prices announced yet, and I understand the date for North America launch is late fall 2011. Nothing confirmed yet, but I would guess late November 2011 and probably priced to be competitive to the Mazda 5 depending on level of standard features, as the C-Max will have a vast array of not so common high end features for this segment
