Hi guys,

I am looking to buy an 08 Focus SES with 60,000kms on it. Manual transmission

I would like to know what to look for when going to see the vehicle, any known issues with these?

Thanks guys

Kieran

no problems really , just keep up the service on it. the 08 has the same motor as my car , ive got 135k+ with no major issues.

i have a 2010 SES and LOVE it!

I also work for Ford and havent really seen any major issues with the Focus model past the 2005 mark. the 08+ models are great!

Awesome.

I will probably check/change most fluids, clean the MAF etc right away. I was also thinking about adding a new air intake.

Is this an easy job on these? Or will I need new intake pipes as well as the cone filter?

You can buy a new intake (CAI or SRI) for between $200 - $350. it's a simple unbolt the old, bolt in the new when it comes to intakes. The filters come with them. The aftermarket parts are always a plus.

Also, change the swaybar endlinks. They always go bad on the focus.

Wow, pricey.

I will check the swaybar links.

Weird...just replaced air intake system on my Saab...and the swaybar links. Then sold it. I hope the Focus is a lot more reliable than that thing

You can find a used intake tube for cheaper on either here or FJ, and the filters can be cleaned and re-used. IMO it's worth the investment.

just like any car (especially a mtx) make sure the tranny shifts smooth up and down through all gears. never know if it was someone's first mtx car that they learned on and were grinding the gears into obvlivion.

Look for things like grease in the inside of the rim or rubber in the fender wells lol because if you see anything like that it means that the tires have spun a lot and might need new axles

And for the air intake it is a royal pain to change from stock(of its the pezev) but well worth it and the one I like the best is the airaid or the fsworks I go with the are aid if you have all 4 seasons but if you live somewhere the weather never really gets tribal like CA or places like that get the fsworks one

One more question.

The car should still have powertrain warranty right/ How does this transfer to me? Does it go by the VIN of the car or does it not transfer?
