: Well....I more than likely totalled the Focus
kjsoccerdude 11-27-2010, 01:21 PM Long story short...it was my fault. I've never even been close to being in an accident before and then this happened. Turned in front of somebody and they messed up my front passengers side.
No pics unfortunately.
I find out the estimation on Monday and will likely find out if it's totaled or repairable on Monday or Tuesday. If I had to guess I'm thinking it will be totaled. Kinda puts me in a crappy situation as I still owe money on it. Hopefully I'll get enough to pay off what I owe + the insurance deductible ($500.) Then I gotta just look for a cheap car that I may need to take a small loan out for.
I will likely still stick around here and keep up with what's going on though.
nepafocus03 11-27-2010, 01:35 PM that really stinks, everyone was ok i hope? did the airbag go off? hope you get everything sorted out
Malibooya 11-27-2010, 02:25 PM Well, I guess you can take it as a lesson whether or not the Focus is repairable...but hey, we all have our days. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" and all that jazz.
Hoping it's repairable though. What'd you get hit by?
norcalfocus01 11-27-2010, 03:04 PM This blows. Did you have gap insurance? If not you may want to look into it the next time you get a loan on a car.
Time to get another Focus so you can have two weeks of fun putting your Eibach suspension on it, lol.
DrkKnight614 11-27-2010, 03:19 PM Posted via FF Mobile Good luck man, i hope everything works out for you. Glad your gonna stay around, will be even more so if you get another focus.
Zanco 11-27-2010, 03:32 PM That sucks. I'm still paying on mine and I would hate to have to make payments on a car I am no longer driving. Good luck to ya!!!
kjsoccerdude 11-27-2010, 10:34 PM To clear some things up I'm fine and so are the people in the other vehicle. Got hit by a 2000 Chevy Silverado. Virtually no damage to his truck other than some straps and red paint on the front bumper.
I do have full coverage on it so if they total it I'll likely get enough to pay for what I have left on the loan + the deductible.
As for my Eibach suspension the front passengers side is more than likely bent in half. The wheel looking like this \.
And Norcal...not two weeks, try two months haha.
WUGcatsvt 11-28-2010, 01:17 AM Hey, if your looking for a cheap car, look no further then a Focus. I heard they are great ;). Glad the accident didnt turn out to bad.
WiscoGTI 11-28-2010, 01:26 PM If you end up having to get a cheap ride, just buy a cheap Focus that has 150k miles or something. I recommend a hatch. ;)

karguy427 11-29-2010, 03:21 PM I can feel for 'ya....
Totalled out my '03 ZTW on Oct. 27th - the day after my birthday.
As a damage appraiser, I can tell you that unless it was a real minor hit, it's going to be a total loss. If they got you on both doors, you're talking about replacement of the rocker panel and center pillar, putting the vehicle on a frame rack to restore the correct dimension points, plus replacing of the doors. My wagon's estimate was above $6,000 and all I did was roll over in soft snow....
Gasflame 12-01-2010, 09:19 AM I feel for ya. I totaled my infrared focus in May while on my way to turn in my final >.<

She failed to yield at the light and pulled out in front of me :/ She drove an impala.
Her insurance gave me $13,600 for it and with that I bought another 2007 hatch but in liquid grey and with 1 more feature than my red car had. Everything will work out alright in the end :)
kjsoccerdude 12-01-2010, 10:36 AM Well a small update. No word for sure on if it's going to be totaled yet but the body shop called to ask me a question or two and told me what they were at for the damages so far. IMO my insurance would be crazy not to total it at this point.
I may have found a new car though. I wasn't sure if I wanted to get another Focus or not but...I may be getting my hands on an 03 Screaming Yellow SVT w/EAP.

Its time for FF to capitalize on the "like" option from facebook or a thumbs up.
MellowYellow 12-01-2010, 04:36 PM My yellow 03 ZX3 was totaled two Januarys ago when it did not take a corner and hit a concrete block. I think the front tire had gone soft, so did not grip. It doesn't take much to total the car.
I replaced it with a red 03 ZX5 that has additional features.
I think that a used Focus is the best buy for a replacement car.
Get a stick, rather than automatic.
kjsoccerdude 12-01-2010, 06:01 PM You bought what I just totaled. Red 03 ZX5. Great car.
I already have a 5-speed so if I get the SVT the 6-speed will be a nice upgrade (along with everything else better about it.)
6SPD_soul 12-01-2010, 06:37 PM That sucks dude. I really hope you get a fair deal from the insurance company and can get into an SVT.
kjsoccerdude 12-02-2010, 11:00 AM Update. To my surprise they didn't total the car.
They will be paying for it to be fixed. $4400 + whatever they still need to add on for the Eibach suspension. They somehow think they're going to be able to buy just the front passengers side damper. After checking on KBB the car is only worth $4500 at most (that's in perfect condition) so not sure what they're thinking but oh well. Now I gotta wait a week or two for them to fix it.

Something's missing here. They must think you're Focus is worth $5,500 or so if they're willing to pay $4,400+ to fix it. (salvage value should be a bit north of $1,000...)
Are you still making payments on the car?
If not, then, if you're satisfied that the car's worth only $4,400, why not just take the money? If you have a loan, you won't be able to do this unless you have extra money to pay it off. (can't be making payments on a 'totalled' car - loan company won't like it...)
Also - if you get it repaired, make sure you have BOTH front struts replaced. They should be replace in pairs. Insurance co. will only want to pay for the damaged one, though. You can probably talk hem into paying for both, though. Just say "Isn't that a safety item?"

skidooman 12-02-2010, 06:22 PM I bought my 2006 with only 28,000 miles on it for $3000 back in may of this yr. It was totaled. I drove it back from Oklahoma to Minnesota with no problems. Spent $938. on parts and paint and now its good to go again. Cant beat gettin a 4 yr old with low miles for under $4000!!![headbang]

Yes I'm still making payments on it. If it was up to me I would have them just total it and take a check. i thought that if the insurance company wanted to repair it I didn't really have a choice?

Yup - their choice.....
fhh02a 12-03-2010, 06:00 PM that just means
you and your focus are MEANT to be TOGETHER

what insureance company are you with. most will use LKQ parts or OEM aftermarket parts to cut back on cost.
hypnoticracing 12-06-2010, 08:42 AM they repaired my 03 when i slid sideways into a light pole (long story) in 2004 and the damage was i think $5,200 and then 2 months later because i got side swiped into a curb and that was $2400
