I am in the process of getting the tuning remote done on my 09 focus. When ever I have the custom tune loaded when I coast espically when I hit the brakes the car will stay reved at around 1300rpm. I have tried resetting the ecu. Is there anything I may may be missing or is it the tune? When I flash back to stock. It does it but it will only rev to 900-1000 rpm. It is also reving in between shifts. The car is a manual. Any ideas?

Contact your tuner. He will have to make adjustments. I had the same problem on mine.

Tom is doing my tuning. He seems to think that there is a vacuum leak because he has made quite a bit of adjustment and is hasn't drastically responded.

The issue is there with out the tune just not as high which makes me think Vac leak or IACV , this needs to be ruled out before trying to mask it in a tune

A guy with close to the same issues found his TB to be sticking open slightly

I'm going to try cleaning out the throttle body soon to see if it's getting sticky. How do you recomend cleaning it? What's parts need to be checked for sticking?

Haha. That was me actually. Yeah for some reason the TB wasnt sealing right. I tried to center the throttle plate and I even tweaked the spring to hold it shut tighter. The Idle got better but it made the throttle stick throwing me back in my seat everytime I pulled off in first. That got old fast so I went ahead and bought the cfm throttle body a new IACV. Put them in about an hour ago and its idling perfect so far. I dont think I needed the valve but I figured its old and going to go soon. Why not right? Ill give it a day of driving to adjust and get back to tuning tomorrow. If I find anything else out ill post..

I would take everything loose from the TB , intake , cables and play with the TB and see if the plate is sticking anf make sure its closing all the way

Before I started playing around in there I blasted everything with propane with the iacv disconnected and car running to make 100% sure there was no vac leaks. Also i would recommend if you need to adjust the throttle stop use the set screw. Its easier to adjust and it takes 2 mins to clean out the epoxy.

There is no idle air control valve on the focus with the electronic throttle body. The reason this issue is so frustrating for me is because at idle in neutral when i rev it it idles back down like normal. But if the car is moving it will not idle down until I stop. The issue is exclusively when the car is moving when stopped everything is fine.

I had the SAME problem. You will have to work with Tom and he will just have to keep sending you files until is smooths out.

Tom, correct me if I am wrong, but it seems that the drive-by-wire system is really touchy. Any change in air temperature seems to make the idle jump around until you drive the car for a few miles. It seems like the computer is adjusting to the difference in ambient air temperature and it takes awhile for it to compensate for this change.

Personally, I would like to have the old school throttle linkage. The con of the drive-by-wire is that is cleans up the engine bay a little bit.
