Thanks to Krazykidd510 for showing us this tonight at the meet up. For those like me with no tach in my 05 ZX3, or even if you have one but you want a digital tach, check this out. With your car off, push in and hold down the button on your speedo that resets your odometer and start up your car. A few seconds in, you will see the display change. Then keep pushing it about 6 or 7 times until you see a "t" to the left and then numbers. Thats what RPM you are idling at, rev it and check it out.

HUGE help for someone like me with no tach, I was shifting at like 4k RPM but my rev limiter is up at 7k [facepalm] So I wasnt getting nearly as much from my turbo as I could have been, now I am [:)] Only thing that sucks is that you have to repeat the process each time you start your car up again. Just thought I'd share.

Yeah there is a couple of links to a huge list of ongoing How-tos i read that one, how to deactivate the auto door lock thing and the seat belt reminder.

When your car starts to move the doors auto lock, i hated that. And the never ending seat belt reminder.

^^Maybe You should try wearing Your seat belt, huh?[facepalm]

This is kinda neat, but far from new. Thing is, now that You are boosted You should probably consider installing either a gauge cluster with a tach, or an external tach.

^^^^ + 1. It helps when you want a tach on the fast and free, but sucks that you have to do it every time you are going out. Better off getting one.

If anyone knows where I can get a tach, let me know. Finding an 05-07 with similar miles and someone who wants to get rid of their gauge cluster isnt too easy. Not like I can just go to the store and buy one...

Go to a junkyard and get one- a dealer might be able to provide you with the sticker, or you can make some other sort of notation in the owner's manual about the cluster change. You'll be more likely to get a cluster with fewer miles on it. Swap is as simple is remove and replace.

Thanks for the reminder

Found this link for gauge clusters on ebay, but why do alot of them say 06-07? Shouldnt that still fit my 05 ZX3? Thought 05-07 were the same?

Mainly because the seller prints up whatever the manufacturer claims. It will work no problem '05 potentially through '11

Normally it will work on similar years, but Ford in their amazingness will change things mid-generation sometimes, so there are no guarantees.

Why do most of the auctions give the milage on the cluster?

The milage doesnt stick with the cluster does it?

If i put a 108K cluster on my 41K car will it still read 108k? [???:)]

Yes, it is recorded within the cluster so your car would read 108k

Why not just wear the seatbelt? Lol. That noisy ass thing is the reason I now always wear my seatbelt. It got me in the habit. Which will hopefully save my life one day.

But this is a sweet trick. I'm going to have to try that.
