if my linkage is messed up can it keep me from getting into 5th and 6th

Well, like I said, depending on how it came loose, if that is the problem, it is possible. Its not that it is messed up, its that it might have came loose because you have to snap it all the way on....if you dont know what I am talking about you really need to just take it back in to ford. Describe how it feels trying to go into those gears...does the stick slide into the 5th and 6th spots, or will the stick not slide up or down at all? There maybe something obstructing the linkage under the hood when trying to go into those gears if the stick will not slide up and down at all. Can some one post pics of the linkage locations? One is under the hood next to the intake manifold on the drivers side, and the other spot is under you middle console.

i chaecked the linkage in the console and thats not the problem, and i can put it in the spots of 5th and 6th but it still stays in 3rd and 4th

Well, I would check under the linkage under the hood. Other than that there isnt much you can do. Is there a problem with taking it back to the dealer?

I have seen a linkage being bent causing that problem.

when my linkage screw messed up, it got locked in 6th gear. woudlnt move

it was fixed today in 20 minutes, the linkage was not adjusted right when i had my clutch installed.

Cool, glad to hear...I figured it would be a quick fix.
