check a junkyard for a metal shifter base from a cougar (forget the years, but it's the late-90's)... it should be relatively cheap, and then you never hafta think about breaking one again, it's a great upgrade when you break a plastic one

i have one from and svt its the same base but metal.. its suppose to be the upgrade.. i already have a metal one otherwise i would use it..
