: i wanna buy somethin for my svt, but what...???
drummer829 10-08-2010, 12:14 AM after driving my car for about a month i really want somethin else now...i have an intake and high flow cat now what?? ive been wondering about some aftermarket anti-sways...i know the svt's already handle very well, so will the anti sways really help a lot...not really thinkin about lowering springs, just because its my DD and im not sure if itd be good for winter...id love to do the tune, but thats kinda pricy right now
mikebontoft 10-08-2010, 12:15 AM you could buy ME......lol. I'd go great with your SVT.
why not finish the exhaust?
drummer829 10-08-2010, 12:19 AM ive heard from many in this forum that the header and exhaust are pretty much maxed out for the svt performance wise, and exhaust isnt worth the whole 2hp gain for $400
mikebontoft 10-08-2010, 01:20 AM yeah that's true lol [werd]
you'll love sways though
bmylez 10-08-2010, 08:22 AM Tune for sure.

i would say lower it a little... or sway bars. if your not looking for a tune that is. otherwise do a tune
1turbofocus 10-08-2010, 09:37 AM Tune 395.00 shipped , best mod for the SVT Focus

mlbbaseball 10-08-2010, 10:16 AM after that, ur only option is pretty much boost!
alex62390 10-08-2010, 11:52 AM the catback exhaust might not give a lot of power but the sound is well worth the price.
drummer829 10-08-2010, 11:52 AM i have seen some lowering springs that are only 1.2 in front and 1.6 in back, so i might do that with some anti sways...but if im spending $400 on suspension, then i might as well get the tune instead...DAMN YOU MODDING!!! WHY ARE YOU SO ADDICTING?!?!
GodLovesUgly 10-08-2010, 12:20 PM a STS is a good options for the LONG shifter these cars came with.
pair it with a dog bone mount and it's magical.
Godzukidan 10-08-2010, 07:36 PM I would go with the tune for shure. And the STS will make it funner to drive. [driving]
littlefoci 10-14-2010, 03:42 PM my fav first mods were 67mm throttlebody to get rid of the terrible throttle response and a tune but go with tom i made the mistake of just getting a diablo sport tune( but was still much better then stock)
drummer829 10-14-2010, 05:08 PM def doin the tune when i get my my extra school loan money back [wiggle]
drostedrummer89 10-14-2010, 08:23 PM boost boost boost
mikebontoft 10-14-2010, 08:45 PM am i thinking of someone else? I thought your siggy said you had a tune or i would have suggested it. Lol

BrainDamage6 10-14-2010, 08:53 PM Forget about the boost man. Stay N/A! As you can tell, EVERYONE is going boost! boost boost boost....blah blah blah! Port and polish that baby! increase from 2.0 to 2.2. Be different! Sway bars are a great way to go though! Definitely increase the handling capability of this great car! Also, if you can afford it, a Quaife Limited Slip Diff would help out in the winter.
mikebontoft 10-14-2010, 08:58 PM because honestly boost is awesome.....

bmylez 10-14-2010, 09:26 PM Increase from 2.0 to 2.2???? Wow, yeah, he'll pull 10whp from a complete stroke and rebuild. If you want to stay N/A but not spend quite that much, get bolt ons, tune, short runner intake manifold from Top Speed if it shows gains (which it should), and maybe Cat Cams (which are $750 plus valve springs). It's true you can't beat boost, though.
BrainDamage6 10-14-2010, 09:40 PM 10 whp gain??? What about torque, or have you ever seen this done before? How often compared to boost boost boost? I'm not knocking turbo or SC! To each his (or her) own...but then there's the old saying: "There's no replacement for displacement!"
Bolt-ons are a very good way to go too like he said ^^^^!
drummer829 10-15-2010, 01:34 AM well im only getting about 300-400 back in extras from my loans/grants, so i might just do the tune...this is my daily driver every day to school and work, so i cant be having my car in the shop all the time. but i figured i do the tune, the sways and lowering springs after that next springish
BrainDamage6 10-15-2010, 02:00 PM Sounds good bro! Good luck and happy driving...
alex62390 10-15-2010, 03:02 PM "There's no replacement for displacement!"
yeah, its called BOOST.
svtdriver14 10-15-2010, 04:00 PM I just skimmed this threa. But if u want the car to be funner to drive,
1. Get some good tires...
2. Tune,
3. Sts plus. Motor mounts.
And then just save up for boost,

JBotone 10-16-2010, 06:37 PM From all I've read on here, the tune seems to be the thing to save up for and do first. Besides a drop in, that's what I'm going to do.
drummer829 10-18-2010, 04:42 PM yea...my winter tires are actually coming first next month, then the tune around the same time hopefuly...then I get to buy my summer tires and sways/springs in spring. Then hopefully that should be it for awhile
mykehorn 10-31-2010, 03:43 PM Could I ask a little clarification...
I have driven a Focus SE Sedan since 2003, but just upgraded to the SVT last week. Can you explain what is a "tune" and "boost."
I thought tune meant tune-up, but it sounds like you guys are talking about it more as in a part that you buy and put on. Also, what is the boost, and what does it do? Sounds like it's an easy way to make your car go faster. It's not nitrous is it?
Thank you for your help, sorry for my ignorance.
bmylez 10-31-2010, 04:21 PM Alright, looks like we're starting from ground zero with you. I highly highly recommend looking through the stickies at the top of the SVT forum and the Forced Induction & Nitrous forum. They will answer all of your questions.
^^^Yep.
New Members Read Here First. SVT Performance Chat "Read First" Threads. (http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=174747)
Boost = Forced Induction (Supercharger/Nitrous/Turbo)
^^^See Forced Induction forums.
Tune = Aftermarket flash tune for computer(ECU).
Either SCT or Diablo makes units that are capable of flashing a new tune to your car's ECU.
