: What kit??
ZX3TUNR 09-02-2004, 02:57 PM Now that my exterior/interior are done its now time to move onto the engine. I am thinking about getting a kit but cant decide what to go with and what my options would be with upgrading/tuning/tweaking.
The origional plan was toms turbo but i feal that kit is to much for me. I am only after 200HP for my summer cruiser. If I were to go with a SC such as Vortech or JRSC what can I expect for numbers. Is it possible to hit 200 with a zetec engine? Do you think I should just stick with Toms kit? Im not sure if after i get a kit if I well want more or stay. I just want to have my options open.
Please let me know.
kaiten2 09-02-2004, 03:00 PM Im sure that if you get toms kit that will be enough to hold you over for a while. Toms kit will put down way better numbers than a JRSC
Carrera26 09-02-2004, 05:15 PM The Jackson Racing unit won't mess with your warranty, though. Also, it's going to give you a more progressive and smooth power delivery. Don't know how important that is to you, but there you go.

Thats was the biggest topic on my mind was warranty. I still got 4 years left of it and it owuld be nice. What exactly are the gains of the kit with a JRSC and what parts are upgradable..
majikmike 09-04-2004, 04:58 PM If you go to the JR site you will find the info you want but it is 150whp vs. 103 whp stock. There is also a boost upgrade from focus-central that will give you 15 more whp so now your at 165whp for the ZX3. Thats about 15whp more then a stock SVTF. Plus whatever other mods you already have on your car that are compatible with the charger will add more power too.

The torque numbers are way low, and IMO that's what counts! Are there any other kits out there that will work with the warranty?[paranoid]
SVTF'nGR8 09-07-2004, 10:28 AM You might want to buy the book by Richard Holdner: Hi-Po Ford Focus Builder's Handbook....
they custom made a JRSC for the std Zetec, but utilized the SVT kits, larger M62 eaton blower, and otherwise, with only a 65mm TB, custom air intake, Headers, Borla, and flex pipe they squeezed 197 WHP @ 6750, and 170 ft lbs out of it. That is on a std 2.0 Zetec, not SVT.
brcrane14 09-09-2004, 02:44 PM How does the jrsc not void your warranty? I thought that any form of FI and engine mods would void your warranty. If this is true Id be very happy. I want FI too but since I just bought my car I didnt want to give up the warranty.

1turbofocus 09-10-2004, 05:36 PM It DOES void the warranty 100%
You could always go with my STG1 turbo kit it makes 190/190 and cost much less
Tom
frogg5872 09-10-2004, 06:21 PM go with either toms stg1 kit or get the JR and get a good flowing head and good tuning.
TUNING IS THE KEY!

Tom
1turbofocus,
Are saying any aftermarket FI will void the warranty?
CantFocus 09-10-2004, 10:22 PM Any form of FI will void your warrenty...............
^^^ actually not entirely true, apparently the JRSC will not void the warranty completely. Not sure, might just depend on the actual dealer but I know guys on another site with the JRSC that have had warrany work done on the engine even though they have the JRSC installed. The JRSC is basically a 'bolt on' and isn't as 'involved' as say the VORTECH SC....
SceviourZX3 09-10-2004, 10:58 PM i've peiced together my own kit, by the time i get a clutch, lsd and a p/p head my toatal will be rough 3500-4500 usd. and this aint a pile of shit either. good qualty. ill post pics when its on and tuned.

Do you have a source to back up your statement?
CantFocus 09-12-2004, 11:51 AM ^^^Yeah i thought that any kind of FI, no matter what, voided your warrenty..........hmmmmmmmmmmm........if you are right i may be looking into a J/R sooner than i had planned
ZTSDel 09-12-2004, 01:06 PM JR site says what most sites indicate. The dealership is suppose to prove that the mod caused the problem before they not honor the warranty!!!!! JR is 50 state legal on emissions.
Kicknzx3 09-12-2004, 01:13 PM downs ford will have a blower installed (jrsc) and refrain the original warr. there are dealers out there.
before the set up i have now...i still had a ton of mods and never once did i have a problem.
ZTSDel 09-12-2004, 01:37 PM Kickn,
Do you know of a good way to find a dealer who will honor the warranty especially if they do the install? I'm trying to find such a dealer here in Denver area.
Kicknzx3 09-12-2004, 01:55 PM ask around, speak to the mechanics if possible. look at the scion's/toyota's i work on. intake exhaust...dealer installed blowers, never do we say "oh hes got aftermarket parts, i won't work on his car" ...most celica gt-s' that enter the shop are mildly modified. just ask around...there are certainly dealers out there.
ZTSDel 09-12-2004, 03:04 PM Thanks, Kickn
I'll just search a little harder!
