: Passenger side motor mount...stock or aftermarket for the street
nevik 08-14-2010, 12:34 PM Hello All,
I have a leak and the only thing I see that the fluid is coming from is the front motor mount! Is the mount sealed with fluid in it....seriously? I couldn't trace the fluid to anything else, all lines are dry, etc. Please help me on this one guys. Can these mounts be rebuilt or do I have to go out an purchase a new one?

TerryB 08-14-2010, 12:39 PM That's definately the mount. And it has to be replaced. Get a new one from Ford. The aftermarket replacement from the part stores are junk.
Alex Arce 08-14-2010, 01:38 PM that mount is busted! i got kicked from the 1/4 mile track once because i broke the mount during a run and they thought i was leaking oil. just buy a new one
utahsvtkid 08-14-2010, 07:23 PM steeda makes a nice aftermaket one its cheaper then the ford one and has removable bushings. also looks better
blackjack 08-14-2010, 11:05 PM link??
I need one too..
nevik 08-15-2010, 09:05 AM Thanks guys, I figured that was what it was but wanted to be sure.
Now the I have 3 options; get the vf engineering passenger side motor mount, Steeda motor mount, or go with the factory motor mount.
If I go with the vf engineering or steeda, will there be a ton of vibration when driving on the street? I already have the vf engineering rear mount. The C-F-M site states that there will be some vibration with poyurathane bushing. Plus using both rear and passenger (aftermarket) mounts combimed will cause havic for street driving. I want to hear some thoughts on this from people that are currently using this setup.
Thanks again for the help guys! [headbang]

bmylez 08-15-2010, 09:36 AM If you have stock idle (850 rpm) then you will feel vibrations. Also, if you are going to get poly mounts, get all 3. If you have to replace the passenger side anyway, and you already have the lower mount, getting the driver side is the only logical conclusion. Otherwise, your motor will have weird torquing characteristics.
BlueFocusSVT04 08-15-2010, 10:26 AM I have all three steeda mounts on my scsvtf. I don't think that the vibration is too bad. Probably twice the vibration caused by the rear race mount. If you plan on getting the factory mount from Ford, it's about the same price as the steeda mount. If you want ride quality stay factory. If you want performance go for the race mount. It boils down to what you want. Hope this helps.
nevik 08-15-2010, 11:01 AM oh I want performance, but at the same time I dont want to have a bunch of vibration. This car is a daily driver these days and I don't want to get all three mounts just to find out that its to rigid for these crappy roads in Illinois.
which mounts are better (performance wise) VF or steeda? The only downfall to the steeda is the fact that I cant use the stock airbox once installed. I use the stock air box in the winter, here in the midwest!
Thanks guys [cheers]
edingeek 08-15-2010, 06:30 PM I thought the VF and steeda mounts were the same thing?
edingeek 08-15-2010, 06:31 PM ^ I thought the Steeda mount was just a re-badged VF mount.
edingeek 08-16-2010, 02:19 PM ^ Thanks, now I look like a double posting idiot! :P Lol.
[:D]
Oh...I'm 99.9% sure the Steeda and VF are the same mount.
(Steeda = rebadged VF)
BlueFocusSVT04 08-16-2010, 03:11 PM The Vf mount isn't polished the Steeda is. The vf has a different mounting bolt and I believe you can use the stock air box with it.
^^^I haven't seen the driver side or passenger side mounts up close, only the rear mount.
But, that's good info you left. [thumb]
Nice to know there's an option of using an aftermarket mount, yet still keep the stock airbox.
