VERY LOUD.... I had a ORP a 2.5 exhaust with just a borla muffler. It was too loud. I had to throw a resonator...

I have a buddy with that same set up, and his isn't that loud!

but his is raspy as hell though....

i know what my zetec sounded like, and it was so loud after 6500, i should have had ear plugs in!

im running 2.5" borla with no resonator also its not that bad at cruising speed but leaving in the morning i have a feeling i wake the neighbors

I just have an RT high flow cat. It sounds perfect to me.

My first exhaust was a long tube header with just a resonator on a 2.25" exhaust. LOUD as hell. Lost a ton of torque as well.

Went to an exhaust with a res and muffler, sounded pretty good and picked up a ton of power.

is orp with stock exaust loud? if i plan to go to the track im worried if a hfc would just blow up. i want reliable stuff if i go to the track.. my friend as a altima se-r and it keeps blowing up cats so now he just runs without a cat.

Something is terribly terribly wrong with your friend's car. You will not "blow up" a cat if you go to the track. Run the 2.5" HFC from Jay Racing and you'll be good to go. ORP with stock exhaust gets raspy and does not sound good at all. HFC with stock exhaust sounds good.

After one year is entirely different than going to the track a few times and destroying it. That's what I was trying to say. I had a RandomTech cat that died in 6 months and I didn't even go to the track...your friend should switch brands. There are cars putting down insane amounts of power still running HFCs.

You can absolutely melt the guts in a cat, when I first started messing with these things my SVT was running fine but over a month it progressively got worse. We pulled the cat off and sure enough the ceramic part of the cat had started melting and truthfully it looked like ground beef...... I still have a pic of it somewhere.

i dont know what the zetec sounds like, but i removed the resonator on my 2.5" exhaust and only have the magnaflow muffler and like how it sounds... but they are different engines...

The sad thing is all I had done to the car way back then was a drop in filter and a 65mmTB we had no idea how or why it happened... needless to say the local SVT dealer was boggled as well.

when i first got my svt i took the muffler and lunch box off so i still had the cat ans res. it didnt sound to bad untill i got above 5k then sounded like a damn civic just horrible. so then i made my own 2.5" with no cat and magnaflow muff. and again sounded really good in lower rpm nice deep tone but above 5k it got really high pitched and nasty sounding so i added a 18" magnaflow res and now i love it. the tone stays really deep but it still gets a little pitchy around 6k but nothing like a "ricer" sound but closer to an impreza

Ok i just ordered a magnaflow full exhaust. So im gonna try what littlefoci said till it comes in. Its gonna kill me to hack a clean exhaust to stretch it to fit my svt sedan tho! :(

Thats loud but sounds good lol.... Pretty much what my open header sounded like when i first started it up in the shop.... It was LOUD scared the hell out of me then i realized i had to drive it like that for half a week. Lol.

But think of tb1999's race car... Thats straight piped i believe too. But it sounds damn good.

Im swapping my hf cat with a resonator... Cant stand the rice i gained from it anymore
