hey all i have looked around in some threads about changing octane and all that shit. but i have a simple question. with running Nitrous, do i absolutely have to run with higher octane? if so do i Have to have a tune for going up to premium from unleaded? meaning after i buy a 400$ nos kit ill have to buy a 400$ tune too?
btw here is a pic of the kit
a quote from installation from CFM
Use only premium grade pump gasoline (92+ octane) or unleaded racing fuel.

I don't believe it's recomended to run nitrous without a tune. So yes I believe you would need the nitrous kit and a tune.

With nitrous on an engine (any engine) things need to be done and a tune is one of them , it has nothing to do with tuning for octane , you need to lower the timing , add a little fuel , change many other things with in the tune , colder plugs , wide band air fuel gauge these things will help to keep you from not needing a new engine
By running higher octane fuel 100+ it helps to cut back on needing as much/any timing taken out and makes the engine safer but doesnt address air fuel ratio or anything else that needs to be changed in the tune

thanks tom, so if i were to run 93 (premium i think) with a tune and a shot of nos would i be safe? if i get a wideband also? and i was thinking about a 75 shot, but i think that might be pushing it a little to far lol

Tune , wide band , 50 will be fine , then work up to a 75

I'm going to be doing the same thing, just on my SVT. Will be picking up a NX kit for a Mustang tomorrow
