: Oil Pressure Numbers??

What should a FI cars oil pressure be at, like idle and through certain rpms and WOT.

My gauge goes to 80psi, im planning on getting on that goes up higher and i was told a turboed cars oil pressure is going to be slightly higher.

Im also curious on what vacuum should be read on a boost gauge, mine seems to be under way to much vacuum but i tapped it into the intake manifold so i dont know what seems to be the problem

Thanks.

My oil pressure (when I had my turbo on) was about 80 on cold start.

Cruising on the freeway it should be 70ish.

At idle mine was 30.

As for vac at idle, about 20 inHg

ok, i thought mine was high. it was scaring me.
would a gauge that goes to 100psi be ok or should i get one that reads higher then that.

i idle at about 20 and sometimes a tad lower if the cars real warm.
seems somewhat low i guess

Hmmm, that does actually seem a little low. Not sure if it's higher on SVTs normally. All I know is, when I was cruising with John and he looked at his gauge and it said 12.5psi...we knew that was too low.

Mine idles at about 12" on a cold start then once warmed its at about 16"

That makes me feel better. SVTs idle with lower vacuum. I idle at 16" as well. When everybody was tellin me 20 was the norm, I was a little concerned. Not anymore!

15 to 20 is the normal range most do in the 16-18 range

Oil psi shouldnt be any higher on an engine just because it is turbo , oil pumps have regulators basicly and can adjust to hit the targeted oil psi

My vac is around 22 at idle even with number 3 only having 165 compression (180 for the rest)

I'm between 15-16 on my SVT

Yea the svt's deff idle higher than the zetec.

my vac is like 30 at idle, it seems like i have way to much vac. this was like this before and after the turbo unless my gauge is wrong but i had 2 of the same gauges swapped becase i though the original one was wrong
it also take a really long time for my oil pressure to drop.
like till my car completely warms up my oil pressure will go to what seems to be normal

Hey, when you guys post oil pressure can you also add in wether its hot/cold and where you are sourcing oil for pressure.

I'm dry sumped:
Cold 35@ idle
Hot 25 @ idle
I'll go as much as 65psi throughout the powerband hot

My source is the orginal oil pressure switch port.

Thanks for making this post, I always like discussing oil pressure and what everyone has among different projects.

I should make a video of my oil pressure, i tapped for the oil pressure in the back of the block by the oil filter.

my vac gauge reads 5 more then it should, i think its because the line i have for the gauge is extremely thin. The boost reads fine and pretty accurate. I hooked up a large and accurate guage while it was on the dyno to compare

my oil pressure seems ok, like 16 at tidle roughtly after its warmed up and hits like 70 but on a cold spot its like 80+ my guage reads up to 80 so i should get a new one but its like almost 90 id guess if i drive and shift at 2k on a cold start and dont let it warm up for a few mins.

Oil seems pretty good so far,
Thanks for the input.
