Ok so we pulled the head on Chris's foci (Earls32) and we found this. what is it and how did it get there. it was stuck in cylinder #1 intake side of the head. this is a svt head with svt intake

Looks like a wire loom thingy. Thats really weird tho that you found it inside the engine.

Yes Tom said this is the duel runner gasket, and that its common so hopefully this is chris problem

That's the rubber seal which helps close off the runner changeover inside the intake manifold. As the changeover happens these seals help guide the air through the varying length runners without leakage. There are a total of 4 in the manifold. It looks like it just popped off.

be thankful it wasn't one of the boots connecting the two halves of the IM....melted pistons aren't fun.

If thats the way it was sitting in the runner then the fuel was really getting puddled and very may of been his problem , If it was there before could of been the issue with his gone south engine

No you do have to worry. these rubber seals are inside the intake mani. its not the external gasket

Glad you found it. Crossing my fingers that it solves his problem. He's actually heading out this way in a couple months, and I get a ride, so suck on that [:)].

Only thing I've touched on my manifold is replacing the external couplers, so I think I'm good to go...

Lol I was the first his car boosted on stock motor and built. And I get to drive it whenever I want. So I win :)

you obviously tried to convert his turbo set up into some sort of D.E.I. set up and the massive horse power boost blew the gasket off...

or you forgot to put in the reverse bypass so the engine was working backwards when he was backing up, thus loosening this particular part and sucking it in when he drove forward again... or you have the bypass and he just forgot to put on the exhaust filter...

you should have never, ever tried to push 120 psi!!!
