I've got a 2010 focus SEL, and I would like to know if there's a way to disconnect them. They come on when you put in gear. I want to buy better headlight bulbs, but I don't want to burn them out by having them on all the time.

Thanks

Posted via FF MobileDRL`s come on at lower wattage generally, and the life of the bulbs is not going to be affected enough to notice, so stick with the added safety of those lights...

There is a relay in your fuse box labeled Daytime Running Lights or DRL. Pulling it will disable them.

Moving you to the proper forum, please use Dtec Perf Chat for engine performance questions, thanks!

The relay is only for Focus before 2008. I have just purchased a 2009 Focus SES and notice that there is no relay for DRL. I am pretty sure it is programmed into the computer like the 2010 Fusion.

I think you've have to open the smart junction box up under the dash and find the DRL circuit on the circuit board, and solder/de-solder components to bypass it.

PIAA bulbs FTW.
