: Wish me Luck - Lewistown, MT PCA Event
I'm about outta here to duke it out with the PCA (Porshce Club of America) this weekend.
Well, it is just a HPDE, but it should be fun seeing all the Porsches on the track, and how well the SVTF does along side them.
Here's some pics of the track features:
With any luck, I might actually load up a video for you guys to see for a change. [;)]

We got video!!!!
That was AWESOME!
It was completely different than Miller Motorsports Park.
Where Miller was really wide and forgiving, this track was a lot tighter and technical.
Not only that, my arm was tired from the amount of shifting.
I can't believe I was getting into 5th gear on the backstretch in my final 2 sessions.
Which meant, I had to get all the way down into 2nd to enter the turn.
Heel and toe FTW!
Without further ado:
A couple laps with Nick:
A lap with Joe: (From my final session after getting the lines and shifting points figured out...sort of)
A special thanks to my ride along coaches Nick and Joe after I got to solo for a session.
^^^Nick and Joe are fellow Bozeman Region 52 SCCA members.
It was rather enlightening to be told; "you can flat foot it from here on out" (backstretch from Nick),
and Joe's different entry to the first "S" (looking for the little short straight within the "S" was a big help as well.
(Now, if he (Joe) can just figure out his left from his right, that would really help when coaching LOL!)
^^^I got it on video...Joe; "head all the way to the right"...Me; "What?! That way?"...Joe; "Oh, yeah, sorry, I mean left."
I even enjoyed the ride with Fred. (One of the tried and true old hands (79?) with the PCA)
He did point out some pretty important turn in points and apexes, even though he kept trying to get me to load up the rear tires for traction.
Fred...which end is this car driving from? LOL.
I definitely would have been at a loss for the first session had he not shown me the proper way around the track.

Man those videos are awesome Doug.
I like the way Nick was coaching you. Nice.
MAN 5th GEAR!!! How fast did you get on the long stretch? Can I say 95 - 100?!?
Thanks for sharing the videos.
I never hit 5th gear in the morning sessions.
It's Nick's coaching that got me to carry more momentum, and the next thing you know, I had to grab another gear.

Just wait till you're doin 130 with a new ferrari screamin up behind you. looks like they tightened up the last corner also.
looks like they tightened up the last corner also.
I do believe you're correct, though I never saw the configuration before anyway.
Just wait till you're doin 130 with a new ferrari screamin up behind you.
BTDT...That would be me at Miller Motorsports Park pointing the Ford GTs by.
Talk about getting your doors blown off. [eek]

bigsky pca site shows one in July also. Make dang sure your brakes are up to it too(fresh fluid is always good)
^^^Yep...July 24-25, which also happens to be the 2nd MT Challenge event in Helena. [:(]
Since Saturday doesn't count towards the points, I may very well be in Lewistown that day instead. [;)]
And...affirmative on the brakes!
It's not too hard on tires at all (compared to an AutoCross), but the brakes get used...a LOT.
I flushed the system with Valvoline Synthetic DOT 4 just a couple days before heading up there.
and i wish i was as smooth of a driver as you man your a damn machine lol
