When he drilled the oil drain, the metal shavings didn't occur to me at first. But JB welding a flange on there and JB welding a BOV on is hilarious...

Some of his other work wasn't too bad.

Every crowd has ricers, guaranteed.

The JB weld blew my mind... but when I saw him break out the hammer to gouge a hole into the sheetmetal for the piping. Oh Lord. Alcohol and turbo installation do not mix. Did anyone read it all the way through? I do kind of wonder if the guy came back and posted any more after page 2. There's going to be parts coming off that car every time he drives it.

I read through about 8 pages then the trolls came in.

I ahev to say tho, the moderator that was whining about the value of the IS300 dropping sounded like a douche.

This is hilarious, the best quote I saw:

"I would hate to see the other jobs you have done.
In all honesty, this should be a sticky on how NOT to boost your IS."

[rofl]

I read all 13 pgs. All the OP does is defend his work, tell people to stop hating...but at the same time he says he realized the consequences of posting it...so I'm confused why he was complaining about getting flamed...

Anyways, no additional info was posted about the car. A bunch of losers from Real Home Made Turbo joined and said lots of stupid stuff.

One guy challenged everybody to race his turbo Civic @ 10psi. Lots of other s__t-talking, yada yada yada.

Thread is locked.

^^ Yeah I went back after asking that question and ended up reading most of it too. I guess I was kind of wondering if his car had blown up yet. [hihi]

I'm all for finding cost-effective ways to do things, and "shadetree mechanic" type stuff... but where it counts you really need to do it right. Wonder if that intercooler piping has holes in it yet from the jagged edges of that hammer-formed hole?

hey now, just because people have money doesnt mean they have brains.

case and point - I was at streets of willow raceway in socal last year. my buddy is a nasa instructor and brought me down there. he was instructing a bmw event. a whole ton of super sick m3's, m5's, m6's, all kinds of bimmers. stock and well modded. anywho, I'm in his passenger seat, we're gettin ready to go out on the track, and one of the guys in the run group rolls up besides me in a BRAND NEW M6. still had the dealer plates on it. he gets out of the car, walks over to my buddy and asks how to buckle his helmet. I swear a drop of pee came out. I couldnt hold in the laughter. luckily, I had my hand over my mouth to not laugh loudly. my buddy got in the car and we drove off, laughing hysterically. my point is, the guy was getting ready to take a $80k + car out on the track and had no idea how to lace the helmet. he obviously has never done anything with a helmet before (dirtbikes, quads, indoor karting, etc).

All I know is, this idiot needs to take that tin foil off of that turbo and make a nice little hat, in hopes that the voices in His head stop telling Him to do such ridiculously dangerous things to His poor, defenseless car.

the turbo isnt even the worst part, some ebay turbos will work i have seen dynos and personal cars (not mine) the worst is the cutting hammering non tuned jb weld

bmylez
04-03-2010, 12:54 AM
Correct...the turbo is not even close to being the worst part.

"I drained the oil so there are no more metal shavings."

Did you see that random pipe sticking from under the turbo?
Im like where is that going? .....LOL!!! I never laugh so hard! Im still laughing as i type this!

Well F lol if they can use Jb weld for holding on the BOV then i can too :) screw welding lmao. that is a all out fail thread

Yeeeaaahh, Uh I think he had a few too many sips of the hards. Like 1-3 beers while doing it is fine, BUT a handle of smirnoff.... Not right.

JB Weld? Yeah his BOV have fallen off. LOL FAILZ

EDIT: Did anyone notice that he had the BOV BEFORE the IC? It looks like the "random pipe^^^" is actually the turbine piping, the to BOV, IC the up the fender to the IM? I've just never seen it done that way. I always see it done BOV AFTER IC..... anyways. I love those cars, but some people...

Yeah, it's probably not an ideal placement, but it doesn't matter. It's before the MAF.

I am curious to see where the car is at now. He said he was in the process of getting an AEM EMS, injectors, and the like. Then again, it's all moot if the metal shavings tore up his cylinder walls.

is that the only turbo placement the IS guys have?, the turbine is just underneath the last section of piping that goes to the IM

No, I've seen it alot lower, probably just the shitty kit he bought.

total fail. I've seen true ricers do a better job than that on fabbing up a turbo kit. This guy doesn't deserve to drive anything but a KIA Rio.

04-03-2010, 05:44 PM
Meh...maybe we'll let him upgrade to the KIA Forte Koup SX wit da 2.4L, yo. 173hp/168trq sadly would keep up with an SVT...dammit!

I've seen a TON of stupid @$$ turbo builds in my time, but this one takes the cake. I read through it 3 times to make sure it wasn't a joke.... Good laugh though, lol.

Would like to see that guy relocate the battery.. Would be very interesting to see. Oh, is he doing is own tuning? Kinda sounded like it. I didn't read past the first page because that thread was just asking to get trolled.

He was gettin an AEM EMS. I believe he planned to have it dyno tuned.
