OK, I went to get the manual specified flavor of Mercon V FULLY SYNTHETIC - listed in the SVT booklet to do a gearbox oil change. I ask three times at the counter after the numb skull hands me regular Mercon V. Out $8 and less than 75 miles or so,
HERE IS THE QUESTION -
Has anyone used Red Line D4 ATF in their SVT 6-speed?
It's described on the company site as "Fully synthetic, auto and manual, transmission and transaxle for Dexron II, III, IIIH, Mercon and Mercon V.
Although I'm only a lab tech I do understand what "sheer stability" means and WHY we need sheer stable oil in the 6-speed. Therefore, I will NOT be convinced that I should use anything that isn't.

While I haven't used Red Line D4 ATF in my SVT, I have used it in another vehicle. It works fine, I believe I had at least 50K miles on the redline oil before I sold it. Never had a problem with it at all.

The motor oil is a waste of money.

Agreed. I run the RP tranny earl but I refuse to pay the premium for the motor oil. I have been running mobil 1 full syn which is still mundane and unneeded when I change every 3500, but whatever.

i agree too. but now that the SVT is only a weekend car, so im running the oil again. im looking for RP sponsorship next year. i recently emptied all available fluids and re-filled with RP. another good product of Royal Purple is their power steering fluid. i believe it feels way better than the OEM stuff.

I heard their Horn fluid and headlight oils are excellent as well.

Yep! I just drained and topped off the new RP MAX fully synthetic blinker fluid. WOW! what a difference. The best $19.95/qt. I ever spent. I was shocked that it took 2.5qt. though [:0]
