Whenever I read about huge test with turbo diesel powered car the turbo got broken approx. every 45000 miles. For example Peugeot 308, 1.6 L TDCi engine, the same one that Focus use.
Now, for those who has experiance with petrol turbo engines. How much can "petrol turbo" last. I know some MkI Focus with 1.4 L petrol engine which have over 350000 km (220000 miles). Can you do the same thing with turbo engine?
I read somewhere that turbo engines are expensive to maintain than naturally aspirated. Is it true?

Well there are more parts involved with a Turbo engine so yes it will be a little more expensive to maintain but if you do it properly I'm sure it wouldn't be much if any more expensive then a NA motor. As for how long they last it's all up to how well you take care of the Turbo and engine. They can last as long or longer than NA engines with the right care.

OK, that's what I tought. But what about revving. For example if you rev NA to 6500 often it's nothing as long there's oil and engine is warmed up. What about Turbo engine, will turbine be crushed after some time?

So long as there is a way to relieve pressure on the intake side (to slow the turbo and prevent surge) it's fine, just don't make a habit of it.

A turbo in a diesel is subject to more heat that a gasoline engine. Heat is the biggest killer. Number 2 on the list is repeated compressor surge and number 3 would be oil, either coking or just plain using shitty oil and the bearings getting too hot.

It just depends on how well you take care of the engine. I know many people who have problems with NA engines simply because they force it into gear, redline it when its cold, and don't change the oil frequently, etc.
