Hey guys. I am looking for a book to get me started on the path to being able to tune my own focus as I add parts. I have seen several but don't know which to buy. I'm looking for any recomendations you guys may have. About to buy the SCT software. Thanks, Jack[thumb]

Non-vehicle specific, good for general theory:
Then there is the $70 SCT tuning manual that goes through Advantage itself and shows you around the EEC.
Then there is the internet.
I never got the SCT book. I could have done without the Banish book, but it has helped with some of the more advanced things I have had to do (transient fuel is one example). There is a TON of info on the internet about tuning EEC-V's, that's where I learned the most. Then at some point you just have to dive in and do it, making sure everything is super conservative at first.

Let me add to this and not just because I sell tunes and tuning
The PRP (Pro Racer Package) is a wonderfull idea BUT it isnt for everyone , If you dont understand engine and how they work what changes timing makes and why , what changes fuel makes and why those are only being the basics. You could loose an engine easy and people have
Books can help but they cannot help you properly tune its something thats learned form doing it over and over and over again on a dyno learning what each engine likes and you cannot do this with one car
Again I am not saying this to be selling anything , This is why I offer free updates on my tuning
I could go on and on with reasons not to do self tuning but as many before you have found out it isnt as easy as the book sais and with out doing this on a NA engine ON A DYNO you will never know if you gained 3HP or lost it
