well its not a focus but its a 99 contour. my buddy blew the diff in it, literally theres a hole in the diff and i pulled part of the ring gear out and turned it into a paper weight anyway, i pulled the tranny out, in the process i noticed that the driver side cv shaft was stuck in the tranny. i figured i'd just pull the axle out after the tranny is out of the car, well after about an hour and a half of prying with multiple prybars, screwdrivers, and i even tried lifting the cv shaft out (using the weight of the tranny to make it "fall out") but i got afraid that if i do that the joint will seperate so i stopped, i cant get the shaft out. it is STUCK in there, i've never had this problem on any other car, i just pulled a tranny out of a focus and didnt have this problem. before he blew the diff a shop replaced the shaft due to him hitting a curb but now its just stuck in there. is it possible some metal shavings from the diff got in there and kinda "welded" it or jammed it up so i cant get it out? the passenger side came out no problem and i'm dont care about damaging the tranny or the seal because theres another tranny to go in but i need this shaft to put into the car. any help is appriciated.

You probably did damage the joint in the axle, but just take a dowel or screw driver and pound it out from the other side. There's a snap-ring on the drivers side axle.

they make a special tool for popping stuck cv axles out. it is made to be hit with a hammer after you put it between the axle and the tranny. some times the snap rings seize and it takes a hard sudden smack to get the out.

^^^yuppers that snap ring will getcha lol. Happened to my car. And to another we were working on at a shop I used to work at.

What tool is this? Where can you get it? Are you referring to a slide hammer with the hook on the end?
