Owned mine 2 years. 40K miles. Zero and I do mean zero issues. It's been a rock solid car (as was the Focus I had before this.)

I have the 2.3 Duratec with a 5 speed manual. Not sure what engine/transmission combo you are looking at. If you are thinking of doing some modifications, just keep in mind there is no where near the support for the vehicle as the Focus has.

Test drove an '09 Fusion with the 2.3L and a five-speed. Around town, it was sluggish to accelerate because it weighs quite a lot more than a Focus. Nice car, otherwise. If only they'd sell the V-6 with a manual, I'd have bought one.

Sure wish they offered that combo, too.

My exhaust/intake combo offered the typical slight improvements, but what really altered how the car feels and responds was the tune. Dramatically changed how it feels, does not have that sluggish feel you felt (which definitely was there before the tune.)

My wife has an 2007. I (being jealous) def. recommend the Auto V6. The 4-cyl isn't worth the money unless you go all out for a Hybrid model. She has the SEL V6. Its white w/ Black Leather interior w/ Spoiler. I like the White personaly.

Its a 2007 with 53k miles on it. It is the 4 cylinder engine though. It looks clean by the pictures. And for the mod part, I tried looking for some forums, but there wasn't much in the way of them..no way near as much as for the focus..which blows..

I've played around with the '10 one and I'd have to say its awesome.

Nothing to say about the previous ones other than that I don't like the exterior..

i LOVE the 2010 one it looks so awesome..... CFM does sell a lot of stuff (mostly Steeda dress up stuff, and an STS) but that's about it.

Posted via FF Mobile Not much out there but honestly might as well stay here. All your 2.3l duratec answers can be answered and its a ford so.
Id def step up to a v6 tho...the 4cyl is barely enough and the 5spd doesnt really help at all.

Except that for the fact that literally none of the aftermarket engine parts (cams, intakes, intake manifolds, headers, etc) available for a 2.3 in a Focus are direct replacements for the one in a Fusion, you'd be correct.

Steeda is probably the biggest supplier of aftermarket support specifically for the Fusion/Milan.

You will find that most all suspension components that work for the '03-06 Mazda 6 will transfer directly to the Fusion.

In regards to forums, you are right, there's a few out there but none with the presence or membership numbers as FF. Keep in mind the Focus has been out here in the states since 2000, and the Fusion was introduced in 2006. They also cater to very different buyers and I've got to say a big majority of Fusion owners I've met/talked to at various meets are more into appearance mods than performance/handling mods.

The "best" one I've found is www.fordfusionclub.com, just my 2 cents worth.

Zero, zilch, nada. I had one reflash (TSB) done shortly after purchasing it two years ago. Other than that visit my car has seen nothing but routine oil/filter changes. It's been absolutely bulletproof.

Only time I exercised the warranty on mine was because of excess wind noise from the door seals, and there was a TSB out about it, and was fixed right away. Everything else is perfect. <knocks on wood>

i dont have one, but have long considered them. i actually rented one for a week, just to see what i thought. i like the dual exh, and the rear spoiler. it was a nice car, very classy-looking, BUT, for me the 4-cyl is too weak for that big car. I drove the auto, which was really sluggish. i felt the suspension needed to be stiffened up drastically as well. if i DO get one, it will need to be a 6 with a std transmission. i hear the new hybrids are very nice. i think the mazda3 is actually a very nice option, with the 2.5 and the 6-speed transmission. handles great as well.

so, id stay away from the 4cyl version, if you cannot heavily modify it. just my experience.

Unfortunately you can't get any V6 (3.0 or 3.5) with a manual in the Fusion. Previous generation Mazda 6s did offer the V6 with a manual, but the new generation are auto only. The 6 is also a bit more buttoned down suspension wise than a comparable stock Fusion.

I haven't driven a '10 Fusion with the 2.5L 4cyl and 6 speed, but my guess is that it's a fair improvement over a stock one with my drivetrain. My true only complaint about my manual is the short gearing, and I think the 6 speed would certainly solve that.

Yep, it's th standard 4 cyl. drivetrain for 2010. Before that the 4 cyl was the 2.3 with a 5 speed manual (like mine) or a 5 speed auto. The 2.5 4cyl in the 2010 comes with either the 6 speed manual or 6 speed auto.

yes, that is what they have in the mazda3 GT. very annoying they are not doing this in the focus. id love to see the ST with that setup! i am afraid the fusion may still be too heavy for the 4, though.

ZX4STDoug

Stock it's a bit sluggish, no question, especially with the auto. But with some minor mods such a intake/exhaust and tune it's much better and more enjoyable to drive. I just wish 5th wasn't so short a gear.

my dad has an 07 sel 5sp 2.3L. Its a very nice car. He had a problem with the clutch but it was taken care of thru warranty. He has no mods to it except for the steeda bracket i brought for him for Christmas which he loves, made the throw much smaller.

hey doug, what did you do intake wise?

Steeda's intake and a SCT 93 tune from them. Exhaust is Magnaflow, catback system.

Yea, it wasn't the cheapest, but it's very high quality and I got sick and tired of waiting for F2's and hearing every excuse from thems short of "my dog ate our intake" and just bought Steeda's.

The exhaust sounds good, throatier, not loud. Has a nice burble on de-cel, too. I did the exhaust and intake at the same time, then did the tune more recently. Tune was hands down the best money spent.

We rented a Fusion (2009-V6-FWD) on our recent Grand Canyon/Sedona trip this summer.
I gotta tell ya, I really liked that car. [thumb]

I'd have no problem picking one up for my next ride...if...(see below)
The only thing lacking was a "sport" mode or fully manual setting for the transmission.
^^^Other than that, just give me a manual instead. [;)]

Unfortunately the only atx with manual capabilites is tied to the 3.5 V6 in the Fusion Sport (either FWD or AWD.) The 6 speed atx in the 3.0 doesn't have a manual mode, which is sad. I don't know why they don't offer that on both transmissions.

do you know if you can just take off the stock airbox and put on a cone filter?

I know the pops wont pay 250 for an intake.

Can you tell me more about the tune steeda does for you?
Does it require higher octane fuel?

I guess you could in theory do what you suggested for the intake. It's all easily accessible.

The tune is written by them and installed on a SCT Xcal 3 tuner. Takes about 3 minutes to download it, very simple process. This tuner holds 3 tunes - your stock tune, and then two tunes Steeda writes. I have a 87/89 tune and a 93 tune on mine. I choose to run the 93 tune because I don't get any worse mileage with it, and the performance gains are noticeable over the other tune.

Driveability was much improved, throttle response is better and it simply pulls much better thru out the powerband, especially in the midrange. The fuel cut-off that limits your top speed is also removed when they write the tune. To me, well worth the investment and probably the best money I've spent on the car.

interesting, so you found that the tune really helped? did they tune your a/f as well?

The tune without a doubt provided the best gain not only in performance, but just as important for me, dramatically improved driveability.

I honestly don't know what parameters Steeda uses when writing their tunes. I know I provided them with a list of mods I'd done already. I am assuming they have a "standard" tune they use for specific mods/combination of mods. I didn't ask for anything special in that regard, other than to be assured the fuel cutoff would be eliminated which it was.

To my knowledge, Steeda doesn't write tunes for the Focus. I think Tom and FSW pretty much have the corner on that market.

Got a 2007 Fusion for my wife two months ago. I do not like driving it. Whenever I get back into my Focus the road noise seems to get worse. The fusion is a nice car. When I am done with this Focus, I'll probably get one.

We were told by the dealer to avoid cars with TPMS. The sensors will trip if you have warm tires and park the car overnight in cold weather.

My brother in Canada purchased a 2010 Fusion with the new 2.5L 6 speed manual. He is very pleased with this powertrain combo, says it is a blast to drive. His only complaint is at hwy speeds the dynamics feel too light. He wishes he could dial in a tad heavier steering feel for hwy speed.

NemesisEnforcer

dynamics...do you mean it has dynamics for a suspension system? as in the brand? cuz they are usually very tight.

kylesvt720

I'm guessing he means driving dynamics, and it looks like the steering is a bit light.

I felt my car stock was as "tied down" feeling as my Focus ST was, but the steering definitely is lighter and less direct, no question about that.
