: My focus is gone
RyyanBell 02-02-2010, 11:48 AM Well, I finally did it.
My focus was a good car all around but it just wasnt exactly what I was looking for, and it did have some mechanical problems. I wanted something with a bit more oomph under the hood.
I checked out craigslist and I found someone and started talking and making a deal so I traded my focus straight up for an e36 325i!!
I enjoyed my time with the focus and just wanted to thank everyone who helped me out when I had questions or concerns, you were all very helpful!
Gotta say I love the feeling of 190 ponies under the hood ;) Ill post pics of it soon :)

morando6784 02-02-2010, 01:28 PM nice dude, looks really clean
captcurt_18 02-02-2010, 01:30 PM sweet! Two of my friends have e46's (325i and 325xi) and I love both of them. Both great whips. You will love it!
mmmoose 02-02-2010, 01:33 PM Congrats! Gorgeous Bimmer. Just be careful in the winter... a beater car might be a wise investment. Maintenance on it won't be cheap either. However the fun you'll get out of it may be worth the trouble.
RyyanBell 02-02-2010, 02:47 PM Lol, Im right on the coast so I get minimal snow anyway :P But usually in the winter ill drive my moms F-350 :)
Im ready for the maintenance lol I spent 3600$ on the focus and put 3000$ in maintenance/repairs in less than 10 months lol
Quick question Im planning on purchasing some less ugly wheels in the near future lol and Im going to paint them. I don't want basic silver rims, I like coloured ones lol what do you tihnk would look best? Gunmetal? Gold/Bronze? White?
I tihnk im leaning towards Gold :)
zetecDon 02-02-2010, 03:25 PM If you thought the maintenance on a Focus was expensive wait until you get your first bill for the Beemer. Granted they do make really good cars but the price for parts and maintenance on them is expensive as hell. I have several friend's who own them and my girl friend's parents own a 5 series. They love their car and have had it for 14 years and have been fortunate enough not to have any major issues with it. But the minor issues they had costs nearly double to triple of what it would on my car. And as for the wheels...are you planning on buying some aftermarket wheels or newer BMW wheels? Personally, I wouldn't paint the BMW wheels because that would ruin the value of them big time. But if you are getting some cheap aftermarket wheels do what you want with them.
RyyanBell 02-02-2010, 06:25 PM lol, Im definitely ready for the added cost, when the car is so much better mechanically then my focus was, the former owner of my focus didnt take care of it at all lol.
And yea definitely aftermarket :P if i was getting bimmer rims it would be m3 or m5 rims, but im not rich :P
SPIman2.0 02-02-2010, 10:56 PM Dang dude!!!! I LOVE beemers!!!
My dad has an E36 M3... and man does that thing GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! haha.
They don't lie when they say that a BMW is the ultimate driving experience!!!!

doesn't anyone ever look at the speedo? mph/kph for a reason lol...just divide by 1.6...so its got almost 140,000 miles on it. quite a bit...better hope its been well taken care of and nothing breaks otherwise get ready to bend over.
clean car though.
TheGeak 02-03-2010, 12:22 AM Can't you get the E36 M3 Lightweight wheels in gunmetal color? They are some SICK stock wheels and are fairly light as well. You can get knock-offs that look like the lightweights but are "normal weight" for a reasonable price too.
The E36 body style is really great in terms of parts both stock and aftermarket. You shouldn't have ANY major issues either so long as you stay on top of the maintenance!!
Furthermore, if you need a good BMW forum I'd suggest checking out bimmer.info they're a really great and knowledgeable group of guys!
Enjoy the ride man, I still search around for an E30 325iS in a 5spd every now and again, just can't find one in good shape.

140k miles on an E36 motor is nothing. My friend has over 235k on his M3 motor and he drives that car hard.
Another friend just crossed the 450k mile mark on his '90 525i, granted it's a totally different motor than the E36 3-Series but those engines have a LOT of life in them.
bateater 02-03-2010, 02:15 AM Always nice to trade your car and get another one you really like :)
