: 2011 Focus vs 2010 Astra interior
Z_interactive 01-11-2010, 09:38 AM I don't like the interior (and rear lights should be up), what about you?

2011 Ford Focus

I REALLY HATE TO SAY this but this clean and precise astra interior looks little better than focus interior and the steeringwheel is better in Astra (unfortunately).
Also that HANDBRAKE and GEAR STICK are ugly....in focus[mecry]
I hope it will be better in person...[:I]
Just my opinion...
Z_interactive 01-11-2010, 09:40 AM Also, in video focus interior looks much better that in pictures but I still don't like it too much. Like I said, HOPE it will look better in person.
And I wish naturally aspirated engine and manual transmission...
Peregrine 01-11-2010, 09:48 AM Have to disagree with you, the 2012 Focus makes the Astra's interior look cheap and chintzy by leaps and bounds. The Opel even though seems simple, it's also bleak in visual appeal.
I do agree about the shifter and ebrake location. Seems to crowd the bottom of the center stack a bit.
Z_interactive 01-11-2010, 09:56 AM I don't care what you say..I just look at your avatar..LOL
Peregrine 01-11-2010, 10:08 AM Even my avatar couldn't make the Astra look any better. And that's sad.
JustHereFTM 01-11-2010, 10:15 AM i agree, the astras interior looks dated and constructed out of hard, cheap plastics next to the awesome, "sci-fi" themed focus interior.
Z_interactive 01-11-2010, 10:17 AM ha ha ha ha ha ha ha LOL.....that was good...[rofl][rofl][rofl][rofl]
and TRUE!!!![thumb]
drunkyoda 01-11-2010, 10:19 AM Even my avatar couldn't make the Astra look any better. And that's sad.
i dont know if i would go that far!!!! i mean if she was sitting in an astra i would way rather get in the astra...
autolite 01-11-2010, 10:32 AM I checked out the Saturn Astra at last years auto show and thought it was a pile and cheap. The new Focus puts my '06 interior to shame.
mmmoose 01-11-2010, 10:59 AM The day Ford realizes the chrome/shiny surfaces are tacky is the day when we'll see better interiors coming from them. All the tiny little knobs and stuff don't do anything for me either. It's all just too busy.
I think the Fiesta is pretty good at least. I'm not a huge fan of the funky radio/climate "cell phone inspired" controls. But the soft touch materials and minimalistic approach is done just right.
Z_interactive 01-11-2010, 11:08 AM Here's pic of Grand C-MAX which has the manual transmission so the manual MkIII focus will look better inside with manual because this handbrake looks better than automatic.

DrkKnight614 01-11-2010, 11:16 AM Posted via FF Mobile I have to totally disagre. The focus is fresh and just awesome. The astras looks ok but alittle dated amd waaaayyy too many buttons on the console. And i hate those steering wheels. Focus has returned to the 4 spoke design that made the mkis look compact and recognizable...love it.
mix1983 01-11-2010, 11:44 AM I don't like either one, I don't like interiors in most cars these days. They have way too much going on in the center and they try to make them look futuristic or something. Nothing like a nice big screen and a crapload of buttons and knobs to take your eyes off the road. If I had to pick though, it would be the Ford because GM blows and I like the Sony stereo in the Ford (since I'm assuming it would be a royal pain in the ass to install an aftermarket deck).
LongDucDong 01-11-2010, 01:15 PM The Astra's interior flows better, its easier on the eye. But I still take the Focus interior, as busy as it is. It works!
bodacious 01-11-2010, 03:17 PM I like the ford better, the astra one is too busy. Too many buttons. Wating to see the ST one.
kylesvt720 01-11-2010, 03:23 PM Too bad this is the Astra that the U.S. gets...

mix1983 01-11-2010, 03:27 PM ^^^See I like a nice simple interior like that. But its a GM so meh.
mmmoose 01-11-2010, 03:42 PM I don't mind the Astra we got in the US at all. I mind the fact that we didn't get the Astra OPC/VXR. This sport trim model had a 2.0L turbocharged engine that put out a nasty 240 hp, 236 lb-ft of torque. Which although doesn't quite beat a MazdaSpeed3... it still would've made quite a respectable alternative.

Kind of stirs my thoughts as to why GM never offered the Cobalt SS SC or turbo engines in the Astra. They could've had a good shot at running behind VW.
kylesvt720 01-11-2010, 07:20 PM Yeah, I wondered that too, I don't mind the Cobalt SS sedan though...
pitchedblack04 01-11-2010, 07:57 PM Im with Mix..... i cant stand any interior in most all cars now-a-days. But hey opinions are like ass holes..... we all have them and they all stink!

I think the Astra's dash looks WAY too busy and way to many tiny buttons all squished up together... Imagine trying to change the radio station with some winter gloves on?
The Focus interior is clean and uncluttered. Only as many buttons as there needs to be.

The supercharged Ecotec was only a temporary "stand-in" for the Cobalt while the turbocharged version was in development. Even then Saturn was running on borrowed time so there was no point in investing money into a division that may disappear 3-4 years down the road anyway.[thumb]
j-zetec_pr 01-11-2010, 10:52 PM I prefer the Focus interior and i really like the e-brake placement. I also prefer the Focus steering wheel.
Matter of opinion, i guess.
WUGcatsvt 01-11-2010, 11:01 PM i love the focus interior rocks
j-zetec_pr 01-11-2010, 11:06 PM i do like all the red on the Opel

^ And why was Saturn killed off? This is one of the cheapest, blandest looking interiors out there.
CFed28 01-12-2010, 08:14 AM I checked out the Saturn Astra at last years auto show and thought it was a pile and cheap. The new Focus puts my '06 interior to shame.
It puts my 09 interior to shame[histerical] I love the SCIFI looks of the Focus. The Astra has to many gadgets and buttons imo.

More like a lack thereof. A basic "T" shape dash is an easy design to increase cabin space without having deal with the rest of the interior.
mjd4277 01-12-2010, 01:25 PM At least with our interiors Ford added some COLOR. Looking at the U.S. Astra's interior is like watching an old black and white T.V.-with RABBIT EARS-in a digital H.D. home!!
