Hey all. I just got my XCAL2 out of my box of turbo parts and began to mess around with the LiveLink software. After I got my unit updated I took it out to the car with the laptop and found that there are like 1000 options to Datalog! [scratch]

I messed around with a few PID's and it worked. [strongman] But I am wondering what PID's most turners datalog when tuning? I want to become familiar with them and where they are located in the selection menu. I need to purchase the 9 pin mini din cable so I can datalog my Air/Fuel ratio with my AEM wideband. I guess this is more towards Tom since he does the remote tuning thing.

Does anyone know if the SCT software is working with Vista or Windows 7; I was using XP tonight. This turner is awesome and I can't wait to learn and use it more!

I would start with the basics

ect
iat
fuel psi drop across inj
load
rpm
MAF counts
stft`s
spark
spark / knock retard

One would need to know you ECU code to go more into detail with stft`s and knock retard but start there and play around

I wouldnt go driving your car with a turbo and no tune

Thanks for the info Tom. My computer code is BWA4. There is no turbo on the car yet; just intake and exhaust.

Thanks also Blivit; the SCT software is awesome!

As you go through the process of logging stuff, be sure to save your log config file so you can easily pull them up later ... I know this seems like a dumb thing to mention, but I was slow to develop this habit. After a little while you will have different file to load up to diagnose different things.

If you use Vista, remember to run LiveLink in "XP Compatability Mode" and then disable the "Desktop Composition." You can do both by right-clicking on the LiveLink icon and then going into "Properties."

I just upgraded to Windows 7.0 and I'm going to begin working with LiveLink to see how it performs with the new OS.

Totally off topic but can you run the datalogging on a mac?

and I have no idea if the SCT software is compatible with mac; blivit should able to tell you though.

What steps need to be taken to do this? every time i've tried it i boot everything up and select the pid's then save configuration. when i go to load i always get and error usually saying wrong car or something along those lines.

Directly, no. We have no plans of making it work on a mac as is. However, I have heard of people using virtual machines and stuff on a mac with windows and getting it to work.

Do you have the turner connected to the car when you load the configuration? The software may be trying to verify the PID's when you load the config and when it cant see the cars ECU you get a error message. Just thinking out loud there.

Yeah, I go through the same setup up until the selecting PID's, instead I go to file, load configuration.
