hypothetically, if i wanted to drop in a 2.3 and a mtx what would the cost be roughly? Parts, labor, everything. Just need to know real fast. Thanks.

depends if you can get a deal on parts online or craigs list or on the forums.

if not, call steve at Tousley and he should have every part you'd need at cost.

expect to pay at least 2k for a motor

CYLINDER ASY - SHORT - 2.3L DOHC
05-07 $500.00 $2,684.98

500 is for the core. You'd need a 2.3 head and some other things, and the tranny. 5k min to get it up and running i'd say with all brand new parts.

If you can get the car to Wisconsin, I can do the entire swap, labor and all for $2700. The parts would come from a 2006 ZX4 ST with 14K miles. I have done these swaps many times before, and the have become second nature to me.

if i keep my current car it may take about 4 months or so to save up all the money. That would be pretty awesome. I have my doubts about it some though. Not doubting your abilities but just the whole process cause I saw a thread on here last week about a guy that did a 2.3 and tranny swap but with a bunch of mods and he had nothing but problems for months! What was supposed to only take a week took forever. I mean, would the car still be as reliable as it is now, stock?

I have never had any problems after a swap. One of them has 40K miles since I did the swap, and is more reliable than it was with the SPI.
