I remember hearing somewhere that whenever you take your car into the shop for repairs the stock tune should be loaded. I have an SVT with toms tune but it needs a fuel pump i believe, is it okay to take it in with my aftermarket tune loaded or should I re-load the stock tune?

i had always heard when they hook it up for diagnostics, their computer won't even see the car.
Just what i've heard before

Correct nothing at the dealership can see the tunes in the ECU , If they update your ECU like they like to do with out asking then that will lock your flasher and you wont be able to load another tune without a lot of BS
You can tell them NOT to load anything new but still 50/50 if they wont

sorry guys i'm not following, so are you saying the stock tune needs to be reloaded so that the shop can see the car when its hooked up?

The shop can see everything just like no tune is loaded at all , no Ford dealership can see a tune is flashed to your ECU ,unless you know the Ford dealership well thats doing the work I would restore the origional tune

Interesting, my belief was always that they could see anything that was on your ECU. Learn something new everyday..

Its not a ford dealership i'm taking it to, I take my car to this little independent shop, i have been taking my cars there for years, he is great.
I will load the stock tune I guess then.

If your not going back to a Ford dealer then I doubt they have the ability to do an updated flash so you will be fine leaving your tune in why he does the repairs

okay that's great, thanks!

So it is possible to restore the original factory tune, for when you have to have service done?
I've been considering a tune for my 09, but i'm not so sure about it since there kind of is a warranty on it.

Yes you can flash it back to stock at anytime.
