a year ago a purchased a '00 zx3 from a friend because it needed work (ie clutch) and he didn't want to put the money in. so i bought it cheap and did it myself. timing belt just flew, and somebody presented me with another motor if i could make it fit and was interested... not sure which version, but a taurusSHO motor.
i searched the swap forum and couldnt find anything, anybody know if this has been done and is possible without major reconstruction?

if it was a zetec the motor is probably fine, they are supposed to be non-interference but some people have had valves bend, you may want to put a new belt on and do a compression test just to see.

Why would you want to make a focus even more unreliable?

I had 168,000 on my SHO when I sold it. Bought it with 89,000. Only things I put into the car was a new ECU and a transmission (T/O bearing exploded). Car was more reliable than most on the road IMO. The trans taking a dump was my fault, they don't like high RPM where as I do. I can tell you I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

A rear-engine swap would be insane, yes, but I've heard plenty of success stories with a SHO engine in a Focus. I've read that the tranny and motor mounts bolt right up, actually. Pretty sure a member or two on this board have done it, or have it in progress.

Go for it guy! A ZX3V6 sounds like way too much fun.
