Hey guys, just need some basic info real fast. One day i'd like to swap my current engine out for a brand new 2.3 duratec. It would give me a lot more to work with in the long run.
1. where can i find a brand spankin new 2.3 duratec?
2. how much is it?
3. How much would it cost to install it and how long?

The real question is could you swap in a 160hp 2.3 duratec from a Fusion? Or one of those new 2.5s! I think they are 170somehing hp. That would be SWEET!

You'll also need more than just the engine.

If you're going to tackle this on yourself, why not find a wrecked Focus with a 2.3 and buy it. Pull the motor, build it, that way when you do the swap you know you have all the crap you'll need.

But I've heard new 2.3's are around 2k - 2.5k

i found one for 700, i'm more worried about the price of install. i mean, couldn't i just keep all the parts to my current engine?

If the 2.3 was in a Focus, I think you would be fine just swapping the motor over. You probably should get a tune for good measure though.

ok good I was almost gonna ask if you already have a Dtec but you do.

price of install will be a B....... think AT LEAST 8 hours to swap engines (I know it seems like a lot..... but damn there IS a lot more than just the engine.) and the going rate per hour is ~90-100.

I could easily see you putting in at least/almost 2k for engine/work/misc. parts.
