I have recently bought 2002 focus w/split port. I tore engine down and found that a valve seat had dropped, broke up, and ruined the piston and beat dents into combustion chamber on head. I wanted to buy another used engine, but they are very rare and expensive when you do find them. the dual overhead cam engine (which I'm guessing would be a better engine) is easy to find and cheap. will it bolt up and run in my car? computer the same? can it be swapped?

lol [rofl] lol^^^
seriously tho yes the sohc to dohc swap is pretty strait forward. you will need to swap engine, possibly tranny depending what you have, ecu, and that should be about it. there will be a few little things but that should be about it. look in the engine/transmission swap section for more direct information about this swap

Ive done it! You need the following. Engine,Tranny,Flexpipe, all engine accessorys. You can if you want reuse your mounts or use the zetec ones. I went with the zetec ones. ECU, reflash your computer. and new fluids. oh and the Zetec Engine wire harness. Any questions dont be afraid to shoot me a message.

You reflashed your SPI computer to run the Zetec engine? Or you reflashed the Zetec ECU to work with the car's security?

To program your keys to the anti theft system.
I have all the stuff needed, and can ship it to you if you decide to do this. PM me if you want more details.

There is a chip in the key that is part of the Passive Anti-Theft System(PATS). When you change powertrain control modules (ECU) you need to get the new PCM reprogramed to recognize the key or else it will not crank. I towed my car to the dealer to have this done. It was about $50 including cutting a new key because I only had one (they need two to do the reprograming).
