: 2003 wrx with blown engine
WRCwannabe 09-26-2009, 11:50 PM Ok so back when i was debating on selling my car and getting a WRX i emailed this guy who had one for sale with a blown engine.
it is a 2003 silver bugeye (the only bugeye id take)
and the body and interior are in reall good condition.
well he said hewas giong to rebuild it and then he emailed me today (about a month later)
asking if i was interested.
he has the motor pulled and wants to keep the engine.
the miles he stll hasnt told me or he has but i forgot what he said.
so lets say it has 100k miles.
how much is it worth?
completely stock.
i work at a dealership and have 2.5 blocks i can use to put in but i want to know how much you guys think its worth.
norcalfocus01 09-26-2009, 11:52 PM Without the engine, $2000 at the most.
WRCwannabe 09-26-2009, 11:56 PM yeah thats what i was thinking but he wants 3k. and when i always say something like "price is a little high" he wont respond.
norcalfocus01 09-27-2009, 12:04 AM Well he thinks he got a pile of gold. What he really has is a Pile O Crap! A shell is nothing. Now yes he could get 3k for it by parting it out, but that involves him doing work. For him to do nothing isnt worth it. I bet he has another car he wants and needs 3k for it.
Medina 09-27-2009, 12:47 AM tell him you are willing to give him X amount if he accepts it then you have a new (used car) if he declines he will most likely give you a new price, and go from there
DrkKnight614 09-27-2009, 01:12 AM Yea 3k is not worth it without an engine. And it could be in good condition but all the other parts still have 100k miles on them. I'm sure there is something else that will need to be replaced.
Jgrove998 09-27-2009, 09:13 AM id say 2K at most.
this reminds of ads i see selling Hondas and integras with swapped motors. Who wants a car with 200K on the chassis and then 50K on the swapped motor? ehhh.
greddy339 09-27-2009, 10:59 AM 2k take or leave it! if he thinks his wrx is worth anything more than that walk away!
WRCwannabe 09-27-2009, 11:07 AM he wont respond so whatever.
haha
he shit isnt gold.
its silver haha
greddy339 09-27-2009, 11:15 AM well i guess you know his answer then!
i laugh when i look at dirtbikes on craigslist..goes like this...
1991 kx 125 runs good $1200..you look at nada it's like 400 bucks..and when you tell then the bike nada's at 400 they get pissed! funny what people think their junk is worth without doing any research!
mjd4277 09-28-2009, 06:00 AM I used to work at a Nissan/Subaru dealership and I'd say $2k sound about right for just the body. Hell for that much money you could get your hands on a Impreza 2.5 RS-and the sucker would still be running-and build up from there!
ZX4STDoug 09-28-2009, 06:30 AM I concur with the others, he's got a roughly 2K car there w/o an engine.
sicsvt 09-28-2009, 08:04 AM subaru owners are just like honda owners they are hard as hell to deal with when it comes to buying a car they think its a lambo or something it has a gsr swap so i am going to ask 12k for even though its a 95 model
mlbbaseball 09-28-2009, 04:14 PM wrx's are really going for that cheap?
greddy339 09-28-2009, 07:06 PM the car is almost 7 years old and has no engine..yup it's only worth 2k!
ZX4STDoug 09-28-2009, 07:22 PM wrx's are really going for that cheap?
We recently took in an 02 sedan with 112K on it, all stock. Decent shape, nothing to write home about - $4200.00. He's been trying to sell it privately forever and no bites. We'll wholesale it, too many miles for us to keep it on the lot and attempt to warranty anything.
I think 2K w/o an engine and unknown miles on the rest of the car is fair.
