: what engine would you like to swap in your focus
ch84 spi 09-24-2009, 07:07 PM I plan in two years, after the car is paid off and i done universal technical institute, to put a v8 in the focus. I had a few from the hot rod program check my car out after hearing my ideas and they like it. i was thinking at first 351 but I have something else in mind.
so the question is what engine swap besides the 351, 5.0 and 4.6 do you all know or heard of that has been installed in a focus?
spvensko 09-24-2009, 07:19 PM I'd like to go a Duratec 2.3 with a T3/T4 mated to a T5 turning the rear wheels with a 8.8" diff. Pretty pointless swap but it seems like it'd be fun. [hihi]
Edit: in a base white hatchback... My SVT is staying stock for as long as I own it. :)
English 09-24-2009, 07:29 PM yb. wooohooo
TightEfx 09-24-2009, 07:31 PM I plan the V8 conversion myself once My SVT is all paid off but if worse come to it ill get a doner wagon and do that with a V8.... but I plan to do my svt.... so I can give all other cars a run for their money and starting the v8 is priceless....
ch84 spi 09-24-2009, 08:30 PM after getting look over by a few friends and students at uti. im going to find an aluminum corvette ls1 to install in my 04 sedan.
6SPD_soul 09-24-2009, 08:31 PM I doubt I would ever seriously consider doing a swap of this kind, but I would go for a lighter engine than the 351. I don't know specifics about weights but logically, being the oldest and biggest engine, it would be heaviest. On the other hand, I had a '79 Mustang with a slightly tuned 351 and that was the greatest engine I could have had. SO MUCH TORQUE.
unst4bl3 09-24-2009, 08:56 PM id want to swap a k24 in if it worked lol.
WRCwannabe 09-24-2009, 09:16 PM YB (awd) or a 4g63
and why a k24? a highcompression fwd car... thats not honda haha
MisterJohnson 09-24-2009, 09:44 PM The euro Focus RS turbo'd 2.5L motor. that would be sick.
mikebontoft 09-24-2009, 09:51 PM 2Jz no shit. $20K overnight parts from Japan.
[rofl]
Nah ya'll know me, I wanna (and WILL next year [thumb]) do the D30 V6 swap. not bad for having a 200hp car NA FWD for ~$300. It's also gonna be a good college project car. (hence the reason I decided to wait, though my siggy STILL suggests otherwise)
and during that time I hope to have another sedan or hatch focus, white, and when I'm done with the V6 swap, trade DD's and do a 4.6 swap on the white one [thumb] (depending on, hopefully a hatch, I may try to go all out RS as well [thumb])
duc450 09-24-2009, 11:28 PM Call me crazy but I think the 3.8 v6 from the 99 - 04 mustang would be a neat engine. You'd have a little more room than the v8 in the front. Also those engines will hold power there are guys with the stock internals and boost running 360 to 430ish whp. But there is a guy who works for delk performance named Matt and he had one a couple years ago in the Pump Gas Drags in Memphis and I think it was making anywhere from 550 to 650 possibly more, it had aftermarket internals though. There are guys running the Cobra supercharger on em also. Would be a little lighter than the v8 too. Make it RWD of coarse!
blackoutSVT 09-24-2009, 11:35 PM i think if i were to go hog wild and do a motor swap in my focus i would track down a GT40 motor with the quad turbo set up on it... now that would be sick... 4 turbos on a V12 motor = focus pure sex.......
spvensko 09-24-2009, 11:39 PM Given the resources available for the Focus, the possibilities are limited by your imagination (and pocket book).
NAD23ZX3 09-25-2009, 11:27 AM slant 6
2wheeladict 09-25-2009, 11:33 AM 460!!! lol. then invest in tires.
Black02focus_zetec 10-12-2009, 09:10 AM ok i think a 460 with a c6 trans and a Detroit locker in the rear
alex62390 10-12-2009, 10:56 AM i want a 2009 focus RS engine in a SVT. i think it would be sweet. until they bring the actual RS over.
cpz1987 10-18-2009, 09:46 PM sr20:)allllll day long!
djblackout 10-18-2009, 09:48 PM bugatti veyron's w16 quad turbo
KingCrabb 11-01-2009, 09:56 PM lol to the 16.4.
If i had the cash i would either do zetec RWD/AWD, YB AWD, 5.0 Cammer RWD
and full interior a/c running 11.s
focusmaniaczx3 11-01-2009, 11:18 PM i cant believe no1 has said it. ford 2.3l 4cylinder turbocharged mustang SVO/thunder bird turbo coupe engine. those things will run forever. they chuck out as much power as a v8 if built right and they can still get 25 mpg. oh yeah and you arent sacrificing handling due to the added weight of a v8. this would be awesome for a track car.
but then again you cant beat the sound of a v8. give me a 429 and ill smile
Dean-16 11-02-2009, 08:53 AM Id love a k20, Not the most powerful of engines, but the noise of V-TEC is sex [:0]
Perhaps a B18c also.
SR20DET would also be sex, and change the tranny to RWD [headbang]
cpz1987 11-02-2009, 08:58 AM if i could get a honda v-tech in my focus i def would! the sound is pure sex all the way to 9k! OHH!
sduymich 11-02-2009, 10:47 AM I'd drop the ultimate aero engine in
Sikhead 11-02-2009, 01:08 PM I'm thinking of looking for a decent 5.4 SC Lightning engine, rebuliding it... then when 2.0 finally gives out, a replacement and all related parts will have been gathered for the transplant!
Dean-16 11-02-2009, 04:47 PM if i could get a honda v-tech in my focus i def would! the sound is pure sex all the way to 9k! OHH!
you my man, have taste [8D]
Saber63 11-03-2009, 04:06 PM http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2007/07/05/hayabusa-v8-grows-up-28-liter-455bhp/
nuff said 250ft/lbs and 400hp, 10K redline, and it weighs almost nothing, and can come with a 6 speed paddle shifter.
put into the right shell, it can keep up with lemas P cars.
lets see it in a focus with so areo work, like under car and wheel wheel stuff, and i would suggest a spoiler with this thing...
j-zetec_pr 11-04-2009, 08:12 AM 2jz-gte
gregor_42 11-10-2009, 12:16 PM Id have to say I would love to try to swap in a BDT-E Cosworth Evo engine and drivetrain out of a RS200. AWD and between 500 to 1000 hp. O ya invest in tires and lots of them.....
