Dental floss or a "plastic" razor blade. Snap-On even sell an emblem remover tool that will not scratch the paint. Floss works great and just use some "Goof-Off" or "Goo-B-Gone". Both can be found at Wal-Mart. And yes, the "SE" can be removed too.

really easily....

just get a heat gun or hair dryer, some dental floss, goo gone and/or cleaner wax

lightly heat up letters, not too hot, just a couple of seconds with heat gun, enough to loosen the glue....

then slide the dental floss between the letters and car(up/down/sideways doesn't matter)

then with plastic scraper or fingernails scrape foam stuff off, you should have nothing but the residue on there.

then use goo gone and/or cleaner wax to polish/rub out off the remaining stuff (i used cleaner wax)

and then walla!!!!

does removing the letters and symbol lower the trade in value at all?

if it does, it can't be all that much, plus you can always put them back on with some mounting tape..... i took mine off to make them black, and haven't put them back on yet

but it looks pretty cool with out them.

Wow, don't listen to this guy... Do research before you tell people to go and ruin their paint. DO NOT USE GOOF-OFF.. It's been known to eat paint. The one that works and won't ruin your paint is called Goo-Gone as theheat mentioned above. This is the appropriate stuff to use.

Well I've heard horror stories about it, I guess you got lucky my friend. Maybe with red paint you wouldn't notice it as much, but I knew some people that have used Goof-Off on black paint and it faded horribly.. I know Goo-Gone is safe. I guess it depends how long you leave the crap on, but sounds like you got lucky lol

just use cleaner wax and a little elbow grease...and avoid the whole deal..... plus it will also give the area a layer of wax where you removed the letters, then you can also put another coat if you want....

This is definitly the way to do it, I did it this exact way with my moms blow drier and it worked miracles
