I'm having too much trouble trying to get my oil pan return higher than the actually oil level, plus tapping the block would make a much shorter run for me but I am very nervous about taking a drill to my little aluminum block, to anyone who has tapped the windage try chime in an give me some tips , did you thread the actual hole then or insert a thru fitting?

The oil return doesnt have to be higher than the oil level in the oil pan, just put it near the top of the pan and be done with it..... besides when the motor is running the oil level is NOT at the same place it is when the motor is off.

yeah I know that, but with my homemade manifold it positions the turbo pretty far to the side of the sweet tap spot on the pan, tapping the block will move it over some

Your not actually tapping the block your tapping the wintage tray. and its very easy pop off the oil pan find a nice spot big enough for the tap and to be able to screw the fitting in. then swipe up the shavings off the inside of the wintage tray

it is pretty simple to tap the windage tray. just do as roush said. and here is a pic for some assistance. this is the roush kit
