: Wastegate spring... Lower or higher

At this time i am using a boost controller to push 15 psi,
if i do a change of my 3.5 spring in my wastegate for a 11.6psi spring,
you think it would work better?
I mean... my boost can drop less?
or is the same thing by using a boost controller?

a good rule of thumb when selecting WG spring rates it that the psi generated is about 2x the spring rate, so going to an 11.6 spring rate would actually give you 23.2psi and no lower. that would probably be a bad decision considering that you are only running 15psi and probably don't have the tune/supporting mods (i.e. injectors and such) to support the higher boost levels.

my suggestion to you would be to just get maybe a 6-7 spring rate and use the BC to adjust from there so that you can still get the higher boost levels with less drop off.

I have a dual manual boost controller, i try to let the stage 1 using the 11.6 spring, in the second stage i try to turn up the boost to 15psi, what you think about it?

So your saying for first stage you just let the spring in the WG control boost, but second stage you let the MBC control your boost?

Yes it is....in the first stage just let the wg spring works and in the second stage turn up the boost to 15 psi

That's not how wastegates work, lol. If you run off of an 11.6# wg, then you will run 11.6 psi. The rule of thumb you are thinking of is you only want to boost a maximum of 2x what your wg is rated at. So with an 11.6# spring, using a boost controller, you would only want to go as high as 23.2#.

I'm in info ops, doin...stuff, heh.

I like SA, especially now that it's dropped below 100* during the day. Down to low 90s, high 80s. It's nice.

To the OP, if you're planning on running over 15# anytime soon, 3.5# wg spring sounds small. Are you positive that you want to run a minimum of 11.6#, though?

Lets try.... to see how it works....[thankyou]

Was done, It drop the boost more than before, maybe to 1 PSI [}:)] ..i will try it again using the boost reference to the turbo, not to the IM.

A waste gat spring will mean that you CANNOT run lower then the spring , I like to run a spring that is about 60-70% of the max boost I want to run this takes into account for the back psi on the waste gate valve

I would keep the vac line on the Manifold vs the turbo

When i shift to 3rd or 4th gear it drops maybe at 2 psi, why? when i have 3.5psi spring it doesn´t happen?

i would listen to tom when it comes to the IM vs the turbo. this works best on pretty much all cars and not just yours. i did it on my srt4 and it worked better than referencing the turbo. it held more boost and seemed like it just ran better. maybe you need to mess with the preload on the WG. did you change any settings or anything when you changed the spring?

I only did the change of spring in the WG, i am thinking if i need to turn up a little the boost controler.....because is too weird, using an upper spring(11.6) it drops more than before

On cruise i feel it works better but when i shift is too slow
